Feature: New Fantasyland

Walt Disney World announced the latest plans for New Fantasyland (formerly Fantasyland Forest) on Tuesday, January 18. Mark started his discussion about the changes with some background about the original announcement, the change in Chairmen of Disney Parks & Resorts, and the impact of the changes.

Most of what Mark talked about (along with concept art and construction photos) is in last week’s Walt Disney World Resort Update. Mark also mentioned some rumors that he thinks are pretty likely for the next phase of New Fantasyland after everything currently under construction opens in 2012 and 2013.

Here’s the video of Imagineer Eric Jacobson talking about the changes:

Mark interviewed Imagineering Project Manager Mark Hall about what effect all of the changes had on the project timeline for New Fantasyland, and what we can expect to open when.

The Magic, The Memories, and You

Mark was very impressed by the new show. It was quite a bit better than he expected, but he’s still not convinced that it will draw people to come to the parks.

Mark Goldhaber interviews Associate Creative Director of Entertainment Alan Bruun about The Magic, The Memories, and You.

NOTE: If you want to get a good look at the photos themselves on the castle, you’ll need to find a spot in front of the castle that’s not too far away to make out the details on the castle.

The Christening of the Disney Dream

Mark gave a rundown of the pageantry of the christening ceremony, including the christening via helicopter, and provided a quick overview of the ship. And to cap this off, here’s video that Mark shot (with the help of our friends at Disney) while going down the AquaDuck water coaster:

I felt so “Travel Channel” recording this!

Thanks to Mark Hall, Eric Jacobson, and Alan Bruun for chatting with Mark and Laura Spencer, Michelle Himmelberg and Diego Parras for setting those interviews up.
