Featured Topic – Planning Your Summer Vacation with Eric Davis
In this week’s feature, Mark and Mike are joined by Eric Davis of MousePlanet sponsor Orlando Fun Tickets as they talk about things to keep in mind while planning your summer vacation.
Eric started by talking about the fun that he had at the Passholder preview of Toy Story Mania over the weekend (without giving any spoilers). He then gave his impression of the new Block Party Bash parade, the new Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian walkthrough that opens on Friday and the revised Playhouse Disney Live show. Other new things to keep an eye out for include the Yak & Yeti Restaurant and the High School Musical 2 show.
Other ways to keep cool include swimming in the pool at your resort or going to one of the water parks. Eric spent a while discussing the comparative points between Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.
They decided to do a Top 3 ways to beat the heat during the summer at Walt Disney World.
Eric’s number three is Blizzard Beach.
Mike’s third pick is staying at a resort with air-conditioned hallways.
Mark’s third choice is Mickey Premium Bars.
Eric’s second pick is Club Cool at Epcot, even though the snow and the frozen caveman are gone..
Mike’s second choice is Mickey Premium Bars.
Mark’s number two is to stick to attractions that are indoors with air conditioning.
Eric’s top choice is to stand in the splash zone at Splash Mountain.
Mike’s number one is to drink Bluetinis. (Hint: drinking alcohol will actually dehydrate you, which is not a good idea in the heat.)
Mark’s top pick is to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Keep drinking water so that you don’t dehydrate, get tired and pass out. Also, wear sunscreen.
Remember that during the summer, it will rain every afternoon, and the rain will usually last less than an hour. If it starts raining, get soaked (if you need to cool off) or get indoors at either a ride, a shop, or a restaurant and wait it out. After the rain, the parks will be emptying out, but it will not rain again. You can enjoy the parks with the lighter crowds without getting drenched again.
Eric’s suggestions for places to go when it rains at each park are: Carousel of Progress (Magic Kingdom), Ellen’s Energy Adventure (Epcot), The Great Movie Ride (Disney’s Hollywood Studios) and Kilimanjaro Safaris (Disney’s Animal Kingdom). The safari is great in the rain, as the animals tend to be more active as the rain cools them off. Most of the best safaris that Eric has been on have been during rainstorms.
Mike asked Eric his standard questions:
Simba or Nemo? Eric is a big fan of Festival of the Lion King. He also loves the Nemo musical, but there’s no fire.
Favorite Resort? Eric did his college program at the All Star Resorts, and All Star Music is his favorite, especially the Jazz Inn building. An All Stars vs. Pop Century debate then ensued between Eric and Mike until Mark had to break it up.
Favorite Magical Moment: While doing his internship at the BoardWalk Resort, Eric was thrilled to get a complimentary guest letter thanking him and the others at the resort for helping a man after his wife got sick and they needed to change to a deluxe resort so that she could have a better environment after getting sick while staying at Port Orleans Riverside. Even though the resort was full, they were able to find two concierge rooms for them and their seven children, helping to save their vacation.
Mike and Eric talked a little bit about how great it is as a cast member to be able to help people.
Mark talked a little bit about Orlando Fun Tickets. You can go to their web site to order online or you can call them toll-free at 1-866-225-4712. Make sure to tell them that MousePlanet sent you.
Once Mark stated that you should not taunt Happy Fun Ball, we knew that it was time to stop before things got even sillier.
