Featured Topic – Star Wars Weekends with Charles Stovall
In this week’s feature, Mark interviews Charles Stovall about Star Wars Weekends.
Star Wars Weekends take place over the four weekends in June at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Charles summarized the special events at Star Wars Weekends. From autograph sessions to the Padawan Mind Challenge to a parade to the Jedi Training Academy, there’s certainly plenty to do.
There will be lots of new merchandise and surprises this year. Charles is a huge merchandise fan, so he’ll be in line for the merch with everyone else. In any case, the main merchandise location for the event will be Wicket’s Warehouse, again located in Soundstage 1, and the line will likely run through Pixar Place. Photos of the new merchandiese are available at Star Wars.com.
There are the usual array of events this year, including meet-and-greets with Star Wars celebrities:
- June 6-8: Boba Fett Weekend: Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) and Daniel Logan (young Boba Fett)
- June 13-15: The Guys in the Suits Weekend: Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and David Prowse (Darth Vader)
- June 20-22: Amy Allen (Ayla Secura) and Matthew Wood (General Grievous)
- June 27-29: Jake Lloyd (young Anakin) and Dave Filoni (producer of The Clone Wars)
Warwick Davis (Wicket) will again be the host of all of the weekends, and the “talk show” with the celebrity guests will take place in the former Hunchback Theater.
For the young Padawans, there is the Jedi Training Academy (on its new permanent stage) and the Padawan Mind Challenge, a trivia contest for kids.
Taking a ride on Star Tours is always a centerpiece of the event, as well.
The Hyperspace Hoopla is a huge meet-and-greet party that ends the day with all of the characters.that will end each day of the event.
The 501st Legion is expected to make another appearance at each weekend.
There’s a special presentation on the making of the new The Clone Wars animated movie.
There is a special mini-site for Star Wars Weekends that will give you access to a special map and character identifier sheet.
And, of course, Star Wars Weekends carries no additional charge other than your admission costs to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on the days of the event.
Just remember to relax and enjoy the event instead of getting overly revved up and being too on edge to really enjoy yourself.
So have you gone to Star Wars Weekends? Are you looking forward to this year’s event? Does the lack of new events make you less interested? What do you think? Let us know by sending us an email or calling our toll-free feedback line (1-866-939-2278) and let us know what you think!
