A few minor changes were announced this weekend for the TRON Lightcycle / Run attraction at Magic Kingdom, ahead of the release of Tron: Ares in theaters.
I’m not even remotely suggesting that a relatively new attraction which routinely has a standby wait of more than an hour is in need of a refresh, but the marketing team for the new Tron film would be missing a huge opportunity to not make use of the popular attraction.
At the Destination D23 event in Orlando this weekend, Disney announced that a limited-time overlay will begin September 15. Instead of the current blue and orange tones, the ride’s iconic canopy will be illuminated in red and orange to reflect the factions in Tron: Ares. There will also be new music from the band Nine Inch Nails. This overlay will also be found at Tron Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disneyland.
Disney’s PhotoPass service also announced new photo and video themes for TRON Lightcycle / Run will begin on September 15 at the Magic Kingdom.
