Yet another twist on the free dining plan
Disney has managed to put yet another twist onto the free dining plan. Current resort guests are finding literature in their rooms and with their restaurant bills for the “Your Next Disney Vacation” offer. Current resort guests who book a Magic Your Way package for travel dates between August 5 and Sepember 29, 2007, will get the dining plan for free.
Guests must book the trip by their check-out date (which must be before January 1, 2007), and must make a deposit on the trip, as well. Special desks are set up at each resort to book these vacations. The number of packages at this rate is limited.
The savings is based on the non-discounted rates for the same package.
Thanks to Sue Pisaturo of MousePlanet sponsor Small World Vacations for this information.
Welcome to the Holiday Season!
Walt Disney World is kicking off the holiday season today, with events in three of the four parks. This afternoon, the Hollywood Holly-Day Parade begins its daily run at the Disney-MGM Studios at 3 p.m. (not 3:30 p.m. as noted last week), while Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade kicks off at Disney’s Animal Kingdom at 3:45 p.m. Tonight, the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights (yes, the word “Dancing” was added this year) lights up the Studios and the earliest-ever first night of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party takes place at the Magic Kingdom. Next Friday, festivities go to full force with the addition of Holidays Around the World at Epcot, including Mickey’s Tree Lighting Treat, the Candlelight Processional (narrators start with former basketball star David Robinson) and the Holiday version of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth.
2007 S.S. Member Cruise registration info released
The Disney Vacation Club Members-only cruise aboard the Disney Wonder next fall has been announced, along with a new registration process. The cruise, which will take place October 21-25, 2007, will have a special process to ensure that a good number of first-timers get to sail. DVC members who have never sailed aboard a Member Cruise before can register their interest to sail at the DVC members-only Web site before November 20 (next Monday). In late November, e-mail will go out notifying registrants whether they’ve been selected randomly to have an opportunity to book during the first booking date on December 2. Those not selected and those who have sailed aboard a Member Cruise in the past can call Member Services to try to gain a berth on the second booking date, December 9.
Information is not currently available on how many slots will be filled in the first booking group, and it is uncertain as to how many staterooms will be left, as those selected can book more than one cabin, and it’s uncertain how many will decline due to sticker shock on the number of points necessary to book. All we can tell you is that, if you’re not in that first group, get your dialing fingers ready to call just before 9 a.m. on Saturday December 9.
No Christmas for Country Bears this year
We’ve heard from several folks now and, sadly, it appears that the Country Bear Christmas Special will not be taking place this year. Some readers have received responses to their phone calls and e-mail stating that the show has been retired and will not be coming back. Others are just getting “it’s not happening this year, but please enjoy our other Christmas happenings.” So if you’re at the Magic Kingdom during the holiday season, you’ll be seeing just the plain ol’ Country Bear Jamboree.
It’s uncertain whether or not the latter set of information might hint that a return next year might be possible if enough people ask for it.. (That e-mail address, again, is wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com.)
