Celebrating July Fourth at Walt Disney World | Food & Wine Festival Sneak Preview | Construction notes | Quick takes | Crowd update
Our weekly Walt Disney World Update publishes on Tuesdays.
Celebrating July Fourth at Walt Disney World
The Walt Disney World Resort's weeklong celebration of Independence Day kicked off last night with the first performance of “Disney's Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” fireworks show at Magic Kingdom. As part of the Limited Time Magic promotion, the holiday fireworks are scheduled to be presented at 10:00 p.m. on July 2, 5, 6 and 7, and a 9:00 p.m. on July 3 and 4.
A patriotic pre-parade processional leads the performances of Celebrate a Dream Come True parade in Magic Kingdom July 1 to 7, and includes live performers and Disney characters.
Food & Wine Festival Sneak Preview
Members of the Tables in Wonderland program quickly snapped up all 150 seats to a July 27 Food & Wine Festival sneak preview when tickets went on sale Monday morning. Fortunately, the event menu, “inspired by the International Marketplaces,” gives everyone a hint of the food, wine, and spirits that may be featured in the 2013 Food & Wine Festival, September 27 to November 11. We'll post additional menu details as we have them, but here's a good place to start your Festival planning.

Construction notes
Some interesting construction permit filings from the past few weeks:
- Permits for a temporary barge landing and lakeside boardwalk, probably relating to the Disney Springs project in Downtown Disney.
- Dozens of permits related to an “AT&T Wireless Antenna System Upgrade.”
- Signs for the new Starbucks under construction in the former Fountain View cafe in Epcot.
- Railing installation for the Great Movie Ride auxiliary exit.
- Railing installation along the walkway from the Contemporary Resort to the Magic Kingdom.
-
Railing installation along the tram walkway from the Magic Kingdom parking lot.
[These all sound like more “abundance of caution” and fall prevention repairs.]

…The Walt Disney World bus fleet will soon sport a new livery. The buses are being repainted in a red, white and grey design that coordinates with new bus driver costumes.

…The Lava Lounge has opened in Downtown Disney. This bar-like expansion of the Rainforest Cafe offers both the full cafe menu plus new options developed especially for the Lava Lounge. Seating is first-come, first-served, so it makes a good option if the Rainforest Cafe has a wait.

This is deep, detail-packed research, but a fascinating read. Did you know that there were different music tracks played in the morning and evening?
