2015 Disney Dining Plan information released

Last week, Walt Disney World released information about the 2105 Disney Dining Plan. Visitors can purchase a Disney Dining Plan as an add-on to their resort vacation packages. The plan gives them an allotment of pre-paid meals and snacks to use during their stay. Ribbon cutting held at new Four Seasons Orlando

The new Four Seasons Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort held its ribbon-cutting ceremony last week as it prepared to welcome its first guests on Sunday, August 3, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

The 443-room resort, with room rates running up to $600 per night, offers visitors the benefits of staying on a Walt Disney World resort property while providing them with upscale accommodations (many with views of the Magic Kingdom's nightly fireworks). Guests have access to a Disney Planning Center, where cast members help people plan their trips, purchase tickets, make reservations, and more.

Disney character dining is also available at the Four Seasons Orlando at Ravello, an Italian restaurant, featuring a “Goofy and Pals” breakfast on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Younger guests can enjoy “magical moment makeovers” where girls can become princesses and the boys are made into valiant knights.

Visit the Four Seasons Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort official website for more information on the hotel and its amenities.

Haunted Mansion to receive gift shop this fall

Fans of the Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion can look forward to a brand new gift shop featuring attraction-themed merchandise scheduled to open sometime this fall.

The new Haunted Mansion-themed shop will be located in Liberty Square, where Yankee Trader resided until it permanently closed on July 27, 2014. Haunted Mansion merchandise fans can find clothing, home goods, souvenirs and much more at the new location when it opens.

Disney did not provide a firm opening date as of this update, but keep an eye out for updates in the future.

Quick takes

…Happy belated birthday to Disney Hollywood Studio's Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, which celebrated 15 years of thrilling riders last week. The attraction officially opened on July 29, 1999.

…An update from Disney's Polynesian Resort: guests currently staying at the resort can now receive free admission to Blizzard Beach for each day of their stay due to the main pool's refurbishment. This is a change from its previous policy, which MousePlanet reported on back in May, which only allowed one day's admission during a guest's stay. In addition to the free admission, the resort buses guests to and from the water park, provides a free beach towel and will now allow guests to use their Rapid Fill refillable mug, if they purchased it during their trip.

…The Chase Lounge returns for the 2014 Epcot Food & Wine Festival for the third year in a row, according to our sponsor TouringPlans.com. Located in the American Adventure parlor, this lounge is provided to Disney Visa Card holders who purchases an Epcot theme park admission. While in the lounge, guests can relax, get a free soft drink and cool off in the air conditioning. In previous years, beer and wine were sold in the lounge, but this has not been confirmed as of this update. Also, the option to secure a preferred viewing location for Illuminations: Reflections of Earth or the Eat to the Beat concerts has not been confirmed at this point.

Resorts

As previously reported by MousePlanet, some refrigerators in non-Disney Vacation Club rooms at Walt Disney World are being replaced due to a product defect. All Walt Disney World Resort rooms with the exception of DVC Villas, the family suites at the Art of Animation and All-Star Movie resorts, and the cabins at Fort Wilderness are impacted. Disney says “the schedule for replacing the refrigerators at these Resorts is expected to last several months.”

In the interim, if you have a reservation at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel and need a refrigerator for medical reasons, we recommend contacting your resort directly to inquire about availability during your trip. The hotel should be able to arrange for one if your room does not yet have a new refrigerator, but supplies may be limited while they work to replace all of the malfunctioning units.
