Disney Parks Moms Panel search kicks off September 7 | James Cameron. Jon Landau and Bob Chapek join D23 Destination D: Amazing Adventures lineup | MousePlanet auctions for charity | Views around the World | This and That | Crowd Forecast
Disney Parks Moms Panel search kicks off September 7
On Wednesday, September 7, thousands of ordinary women with an extraordinary love for all things Disney Parks have the chance to apply to become part of the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
This small group, officially sponsored by Disney, answers questions submitted online from readers on everything from how to choose where to stay to the ins and outs of making Fastpass+ reservations, or which excursions are best on the Disney Cruise Line. Though it's called the Moms Panel, panelists include moms, dads, and grandparents.
The application process is intensive. It usually starts with applicants filling out an online form with information about their Disney knowledge and questions about why they want to join the panel. That first wave of applicants is cut down to a smaller second round group, which then has a second round of questions to answer.
Eventually, the third round contestants have a phone interview, where judges then make the final decision. Disney selects only a handful of people to join the Moms Panel each year, and those selected to join receive a Disney vacation as their “reward” for their participation.
The first round of applications begins on September 7 and runs through noon, Wednesday, September 14. We note that Disney is also looking for panelists fluent in French, Spanish, and Portuguese, so be sure to highlight your language skills if applicable.
Round 2 winners will be announced not long after the deadline, but specific details are not shared by Disney.
For more information about the Disney Moms Panel and how to apply, visit the official recruiting website.
James Cameron, Jon Landau, and Bob Chapek join D23 Destination D: Amazing Adventures lineup
Disney announced the addition of three new participants for the D23 Destination D: Amazing Adventures event to be held this November 19–20 in Walt Disney World.
Destination D: Amazing Adventures will take place November 19–20 at Walt Disney World.
Joining Imagineer Joe Rohde in a presentation about Pandora – The World of AVATAR are James Cameron (writer, director, producer) and Jon Landau (producer). The trio will provide the audience with what may be the first truly detailed information about the 12-acre land under construction at Disney's Animal Kingdom park.
Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, will also participate in a “conversation” with event guests.
Tickets to the two-day event are still available through the event website. General admission is $190 per person for D23 Gold-level members, or $250 for D23 General members.
Attendees of Destination D are guaranteed seats at all panels and presentations, which is a definite advantage when compared to the D23 Expo event held in Anaheim. In addition to the already-announced schedule of panels and presentations, Destination D planners are also working on a “special evening activity” for attendees for Sunday, November 20.
MousePlanet auctions for charity
Items MousePlanet receives at Disney press events are sold at auction to benefit a number of local charities, including Team Muscle Makers for UCMD, an organization founded by MousePlanet readers Melissa Martin Mayorgas and Lonna Eshelman.
The team raises awareness for Ullrich Congenital Muscular Dystrophy. UCMD is a rare form of muscular dystrophy with only a few hundred documented cases worldwide. The team raises money through endurance events, including runDisney events at both Disneyland and now Walt Disney World as an official runDisney charity partner, with the funds going to the Muscle Disease Clinic at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego, CA.
We have one more auction ending this week, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Team Muscle Makers. We invite you to bookmark the team's eBay for Charity page to be notified when new items are added.

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex Events
Check here to see if a sporting competition might fall during your next trip to the Walt Disney World Resort. We don't list all events here, but focus on the larger sport and cheer events that might result in extra visitors to the theme parks, and make it harder to secure a hotel room. The All-Star and moderate resort hotels are often the home base for these larger events, so it's worth avoiding those properties if possible.
