Limited Time offerings for Disney's Hollywood Studios
With large portions of Disney's Hollywood Studios already closed for construction or scheduled to shutter next year, Disney is trying to change the conversation by adding a slate of limited time offerings.
Starting this Friday, October 16, a special preview of The Good Dinosaur prompts a temporary hiatus of One Man's Dream. The preview runs through Friday, December 4, and Disney's Shawn Slater assured fans that One Man's Dream is returning on Saturday, December 5 for Walt Disney's birthday. The Good Dinosaur opens Wednesday, November 25.
The ABC Sound Studio is often used for cross-promotional events with other Disney divisions. The theater this weekend debuted a behind-the-scenes film documenting the creation of the We Love Disney compilation album produced in partnership with Walt Disney Records and Verve Records. We Love Disney is releasing Friday, October 30, and the preview is expected to be presented until late November.
Disney's new multi-purpose venue, the Sunset Showcase, opens December 4 in Disney's Hollywood Studios. The new building sits between the Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. When it opens, it will house the new Club Disney character dance party. From the Disney Parks Blog:
The premier engagement at the new Sunset Showcase will be Club Disney, the hottest spot in town for kids and characters alike! You can join Mickey and the gang and take to the dance floor in this electric club environment, where a DJ Club Host spins the perfect playlist mix of your favorite Radio Disney Top 40 songs as the floor and walls come alive with vivid images from classic Disney animation.
This sounds quite a bit like Dancin' with Disney, a popular offering at Disney California Adventure in 2012 and 2013. Club Disney is also offering charging stations, a snack bar, and a respite from the Florida weather.
runDisney releases 2016-2017 event schedule
runDisney has released its race schedule through the spring 2017, making it easier for runners to plan their future races. With eight domestic runDisney scheduled each year, runners have to budget for both vacation time and race fees.
We've included both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort events here so you can plan for the various Coast-to-Coast challenges. Expect advance registration for passholders and Disney Vacation Club members to open two weeks earlier:

Disney Springs dining news
Celebrity chef Art Smith becomes the second Iron Chef alum to have a Disney Springs restaurant when Homecoming: Florida Kitchen and Southern Shine opens next year. The new restaurant will feature a menu of Southern staples that Disney describes as “farm-to-fork cuisine.” Chef Smith is a Florida native, and did a culinary internship in Walt Disney World's college program. The new restaurant opens sometime in summer 2016.
Morimoto Asia, headed by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, opened earlier this month in Disney Springs. Starting Wednesday, October 14, the location will open at 11:00 a.m. daily for lunch. If you missed it, be sure to read MousePlanet's review of the new location by contributors Don and Bonnie Fink. You can find the lunch menu on the restaurant's Facebook page.
