Tip of the Week

This week’s tip comes via email from listener Sharla Manglass, who suggests:

At a WDW counter service restaurant, adults can order off of the children’s menu. It’s perfect if you don’t have a large appetite! But beware, the chicken nuggets are different from the adult chicken breast nuggets.

Mark & Mike couldn’t remember the last time they were with someone eating off of the children’s menu at a counter service location, but if you don’t have a big appetite, you can certainly order whatever you’d like regardless of which menu it’s on. Mark also noted that you can order items a la carte, rather than as the meals as everything is listed on the menu boards. You can order a burger without the fries, fries without the burger, etc.

Review System Spotlight

This week we take a look at the 50’s Prime Time Cafe at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. MousePlanet readers really like the restaurant, rating it 3.7 out of five planets. Our featured review this week is by ls3015 of Freeland, Michigan.

To ls3015 and his wife, everything about the Cafe was great: the restaurant itself, the waitress, the food. They plan to return to the Cafe on their next trip. This led to them giving it a 5-planet rating.

Mark has had problems getting wait staff who were into the show, or even who provided quality service, over his last few visits, so he and his family have stopped eating there. Mike has had problems there recently, as well.

You can also find the 50’s Prime Time Cafe in our Park Guide.

Magical Moment

This week’s Magical Moment came in a voicemail from Vickie from Starksboro, VT, who seems to be taking turns with her husband in calling Magical Moments (not that we mind). For this week’s Magical Moment, Vickie described how the unexpected kindness of a stranger turned their day around from grumpy to magical.

Last Week on MousePlanet

Andrew Rich, down at MousePlanet Global Headquarters recapped what you may have missed on the MousePlanet site last week if you’re not visiting regularly.

Listener Feedback

Alexis Bratengeier wrote from Germany to give us the great news that it appears that just about every trace of McDonald’s has left the theme parks.

Dean from NYC wrote on Mark’s Facebook wall to ask whether, if the SuperBowl this year ended up Jets vs. Vikings (obviously now a moot point), would it make the Nemo/Lion King debate between us seem like nothing or whether Mike doesn’t care about the Vikings as much as Mark does the Jets. (Hint: Kayla’s the football fan at Mike’s house.) Geaux Saints!

Stuart Sternberg wrote in to agree with Mike on the Disney’s Animal Kingdom Bottom 3 episode that Chester and Hester’s Dinorama is the one thing he would like to see disappear from Walt Disney World.

Brian Martsolf wrote on Mark’s Facebook wall to post a link to audio of Gi-Tar Dan (from Mark’s DAK Bottom 3) from his Mousin’ It Up podcast.

John Papas wrote in to ask if we’ve ever done the Top 3 for things to do without a park admission. (We’ve done a three-parter on Top 3 Resorts & Downtown Disney, featuring: dining locations, pool areas and recreational activitiesaccommodations, theming/overall environment and nightlifevalue, moderate, deluxe and home away from home [now called deluxe villa] resorts.) He also made some other suggestions for Top 3 lists that we’ll put into the idea bag (which is not yet full).

Dan the Light Man called into the toll-free feedback line to agree with Mark on favorite theme park music, from the poll in Episode 380.

Stuart Sternberg had a couple of comments via Twitter. The first was another of his Believe It Or Nots: Before Mark & Mike, the original MouseStation hosts were Peg-Legged Pete and Roger Rabbit. (They didn’t have a leg to stand on!) The other one was a great comment on Mike’s answer to the poll question from last Thursday, likening Mike’s bedtime choice on which theme park he’d like to live in to a desire to be Fay Wray to the Yeti’s King Kong.
