Disneyland Resort Update for December 1, 2025

December 1, 2025 by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix

The Most Wonderful Week

The week after Thanksgiving is my favorite week at the Disneyland Resort during the holidays, and it was always what I would recommend to friends and family who wanted to visit during the season but avoid the crowds. Almost all of the decorations are in place throughout the resort, the holiday entertainment is scheduled, and on Tuesday and Wednesday one-day ticket prices are the lowest they’ll be before New Years.

Things have definitely changed since the pandemic, but this year is looking to be less crowded than last year. At press time, there was full park reservation availability for both one-day and multi-day tickets this coming week. With the exception of Tuesday, which at press time shows availabilty at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Magic Key reservations are booked out for the week. This isn’t surprising given Magic Key passes are blocked out starting as soon as December 12, as passholders try to get in their final visits before Christmas.

If you’re visiting this week, enjoy what should be the opportunity to take in all of the magic of the holiday season before the winter vacation crowds descend.

California Resident Park Hopper ticket goes on sale this week

A new ticket goes on sale this week which can save California residents over 50% off a 3-day park hopper ticket.

The California Resident Park Hopper ticket is $249, a tremendous savings when compared to the new adult price ($526) of a 3-day park hopper ticket. The ticket is valid for all ages 3 and older, for visits between January 1 through May 21, 2026.

The new ticket goes on sale this Wednesday, December 3, 2025 through the Disneyland website and through our travel partner Get Away Today. Theme park reservations are required to use this ticket, and we strongly recommend making them as soon as you purchase the ticket so you have the best selection of dates.

The best news is that there is no “fuse” on this ticket, and no blockout dates. You can space out your visits to catch the holiday decorations and entertainment at Disneyland before they end on January 7, return in February for the Lunar New Year celebration, and visit one more time to enjoy the Food & Wine Festival.

It is really important to note that everyone using the ticket must be a resident of California. This meals you can’t purchase them for out-of-state friends and family, and you should be prepared to show photo ID at entry.

Keep reading for the official terms and conditions from the Disneyland website.

Important Details

  • Offer valid only for California residents within ZIP codes 90000-96199; proof of eligible residency, including valid government-issued photo ID, is required for both purchase and admission.
  • Savings based on a regular-priced Adult 3-Day Park Hopper Ticket.
  • All CA Resident Park Hopper Ticket Offer users must be California Residents.
  • Tickets expire May 21, 2026, and are not valid before January 1, 2026. Tickets may be used on nonconsecutive days.
  • Each day of use constitutes one full day of use.
  • Guests with a Park Hopper ticket and an appropriate park reservation may cross over between the Disneyland Resort theme parks on the same day beginning at 11:00 AM, subject to that park’s capacity limitations, operational hours, closures and other restrictions, and is not guaranteed.
  • Eligible residents may purchase up to 5 tickets per day with valid ID.
  • Tickets are nonrefundable, may not be sold or transferred for commercial use and exclude activities or events that are separately priced.
  • Offer may not be combined with other ticket discounts or promotions. Subject to restrictions and change or cancellation without notice. Sales may be paused or terminated at any time.

Candlelight tips and tricks

Disneyland’s Candlelight Processional takes place this Saturday and Sunday, December 6 and 7. Started by Walt Disney in 1958 as a community appreciation event, the show features a candlelight choir made up of cast members and community choir members, all accompanied by the Disneyland orchestra. Celebrity guest narrators read the Christmas story in between songs.

Actress Kathryn Hahn narrates the Candlelight Processional at Disneyland in 2024. MousePlanet file photo.

After trying a few times to follow in Walt Disney World’s footsteps to make this a larger public offering with dining packages and reserved viewing, Disneyland treats Candlelight as a private event that just happens to take place in the middle of an operating theme park during business hours. Invited guests include community and civic leaders, as well as media and Club 33 members, who watch the performance from a small seating area in Town Square.

The identity of the celebrity narrator used to be known a few weeks in advance, but in recent years it’s been a surprise right up until the pre-show sound check. Recent hosts have come from a variety of Disney projects, including Brie Larson (2023); Sterling K. Brown (2021); Lin Manuel Miranda (2019); Chris Pratt (2018); and Chris Hemsworth (2017). Actress Kathryn Hahn narrated the 2024 event.

It’s very difficult for those without an invitation to get a perfect view of the show without devoting an entire day to saving a spot on Main Street, U.S.A.. Disney has not released any details about seating—nor do we expect them to—so the best we can do here is present our usual advice, and recommend that you arrive as early as possible to check for updates with the cast members on the street.

There are two performances each day. The following is our best estimate of the schedule for Saturday and Sunday based on previous years. This information is unofficial, and subject to change:

  • 4:45 p.m. – seating of invited guests begins for the first performance.
  • 5:20 p.m. – the first processional begins.
  • 5:30 p.m. – the first ceremony begins at Town Square.
  • 7:15 p.m. – seating of invited guests begins for the second performance.
  • 7:35 p.m. – the second processional begins.
  • 7:45 p.m. – the second ceremony begins at Town Square.

Standby viewing

You do have some options if you want to view the ceremony. Standby viewing is very limited, and is on a first-come, first-served basis. In past years very limited bench seating has been available in Town Square; with standing room-only locations near City Hall, the Opera House, and open spaces behind the seating area in Town Square. Viewing areas for the 5:30 p.m. performance generally open at park opening (8 a.m. each day), but viewing areas on the east side of Main Street may not be available until after the 3:00 p.m. “A Christmas Fantasy” parade passes that location. Again, this changes year to year, and it’s best to talk to the cast members on the street that day for the current operational plan.

In past years cast members have required all guests to leave the viewing area after the first performance has concluded, to make room for guests who have waited for the second show. However, you will need to check with cast members on Main Street to find out exactly when and where to wait for the second show.

There is usually a queue of sorts for the 7:45 p.m. performance that forms at the south end of Main Street as soon as the 5:20 p.m. processional has passed, but again – talk to the cast members. A special viewing area for guests who use wheelchairs is usually provided on the east side of the viewing area, outside of the Opera House – check with cast members for the current location.

Enjoy the processional

If you don’t want to devote the day to saving the perfect spot on Main Street, you can still enjoy the processional down Main Street, U.S.A. and hear the performers sing as they walk to the stage. Just grab an open spot along the curb on Main Street, between the Holiday Shoppe and the Christmas tree. The first processional begins at 5:20 p.m., and the second at 7:35 p.m.

Operational effects

The performances on Saturday and Sunday affect numerous stores and attractions in the Town Square area. Based on prior year schedules, expect changes to the entertainment schedule, and attraction, food, and store closures to be in effect both days:

  • A Christmas Fantasy Parade – performances at 12:45 and 3:00 p.m.
  • “it’s a small world” Holiday Lighting – 5:00 p.m.
  • Main Street, U.S.A. Holiday Tree Lighting – 4:40 p.m.
  • Wintertime Enchantment at Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle – 7:15 p.m.
  • “Believe… In Holiday Magic” Fireworks Spectacular – 9:30 p.m.
  • Main Street Vehicles – may be closed all day.
  • Disneyland Railroad – closed 3:00 to 10:00 p.m.
  • The Mad Hatter on Main Street – closed 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
  • The Disney Gallery – closed 4:45 to 9:00 p.m.

Traffic flow

Disneyland uses backstage passageways behind Main Street, U.S.A. to help with traffic flow during the evening. If you don’t need to be on Main Street between 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., take advantage of lighter crowds throughout the rest of the park to enjoy shorter wait times on popular rides

This week in Candy Canes

The 2025 Candy Cane season at the Disneyland Resort has begun, and we have some updates if you’re hoping to get your hands on one of the hand-made treats this week.

Candy canes are available at the following locations this week:

  • Monday, December 1 – Disney California Adventure Trolley Treats
  • Tuesday, December 2 – Disneyland Candy Palace
  • Wednesday, December 3 – Disney California Adventure Trolley Treats
  • Sunday, December 7 – Disneyland Candy Palace

Of these dates, Wednesday at Disney California Adventure is your best bet. Keep in mind that December 1 and 2 are Early Entry dates at the same park where candy canes will be released, and so the gates will open 30 minutes before the published time. Sunday is Candlelight Processional, so more “in the know” visitors will be in park that day.

A candy maker places candy canes on a special form to cool into their siganture shape. Photo by Justin Rodgers.

Once you decide when to go, check to see what time the park opens and get to the front gates at least one hour early. As soon as the entrance opens, walk briskly straight to either Trolley Treats or the Main Street Candy Kitchen and look for the cast members who will direct you into a line outside the shop to receive a wristband

This year Disney ditched the mobile wait list and went back to a wristband distribution system. The color-coded wristbands are printed with the time for you to return to claim your candy cane. Depending on when you arrive, you may get a wristband for a candy cane from the first batch of the day, or you may be in a later group with a 1:30 p.m. or later return time. During the first week of the candy cane season, wristbands were all distributed within 30 minutes each morning, so you can’t afford to sleep in.

This year candy canes are $23.99 each, and no discounts apply.

Correction about the new Costco ticket offer

Last week we shared details about a new Disneyland ticket offer available at Costco. Several readers reached out to correct our reporting, and add more information.

The offer is a fully-loaded two-day ticket, including Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Park Hopper, for $389.99. The new offer is valid for admission January 8 through June 12, 2026.

We incorrectly reported that the offer is available at Costco warehouse locations in California and other west coast states. The offer is not available in California warehouses, but has been found at Costco locations in Washington, Oregon, Nevada and Arizona. We are still unsure if the offer is available in Idaho. (Please drop us a message to parkupdates@mouseplanet.com and let us know if you ticket in a Costco outside these states.)

Each Costco member can purchase up to 10 tickets.

Thank you to readers Kathy, Brent and Laura for their corrections.

  • D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event – Aug. 14-16, 2026. Tickets go on sale spring, 2026.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

Tickets, Discounts and Promotions

Disneyland prices as of October 8, 2025.

Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.

Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

No more than six Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased by any eligible member of the U.S. military (or spouse) pursuant to this offer. All tickets and options are non-transferable and must be used by December 31, 2026.

This offer must be purchased at a participating US military base ticket office. Eligible US Military service members can also buy tickets via GOVX.com

2026 Military Hotel discounts

The new hotel discount is valid for all of 2026, January 1 through December 31, 2026, and must be booked by December 27, 2026.

As has been the case for the past several years Disney did not publish the actual discounted rates, and instead directed eligible U.S. military personnel to call (866) 309-9737 to check pricing, availability and to make reservations. If you’re making travel plans for 2026, it’s worth calling the number above to see if there are any special military offers available during your stay.

The offer is available to eligible service members, (active or retired members of the US military, including the National Guard, Reservists, the US Coast Guard, the US Space Force, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS) and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) ), and their spouses with proper military ID.

Those who qualify can book up to two rooms under this offer, and eligible service member or spouse must stay in the room on the reservation.

2025 Military Ticket discounts

Now through December 23, 2025, active and retired U.S. military personnel (including active and retired members of the United States Coast Guard, National Guard and Reservists) or their spouses can purchase:

  • 3-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket: $295 ($26 increase from the 2024 offer)
  • 3-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass: $391 ($32 increase)
  • 4-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket: $349 ($34 increase)
  • 4-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass: $477 ($42 increase)

Disneyland tickets may be used January 1 through December 27, 2025, which adds New Years Day and Christmas week to the offer. There are no other blockout dates this year, so the ticket is valid during spring break, summer, Halloween Time and beyond.

Active and retired U.S. military personnel can purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets for themselves and up to five additional family members or friends. No more than six Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased by any eligible member of the U.S. military (or spouse) pursuant to this offer. 2025 Military Hotel discounts

Military discounts are valid for stays most nights from January 1 through December 27, 2025. You can book now through December 23, 2025, and travel must be completed by December 28, 2024.

Disney does not publish the actual discounted rates, and instead asks eligible U.S. military personnel to call (800) 453-4911 to check pricing, availability and to make reservations. In past years, the offer was generally 30% to 40% off, based on room category. Concierge rooms, Signature or Premium suites, or 2-or 3-Bedroom Villas are excluded from the offer, and this offer can not be combined with any other discount.

Unlike the Walt Disney World version, the Disneyland offer allows the eligible service member to book up to two rooms, and allows their spouse (with valid and proper ID) to qualify in the absence of the service member.
