Disneyland Resort Update for December 29, 2025

December 29, 2025 by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix

Happy New Year!

From the MousePlanet family to yours, we hope 2026 brings you peace, joy, health, love and prosperity.

Last chance to see

With the Holidays at Disneyland Resort and Festival of Holidays at Disney California Adventure coming to an end on January 7, 2026, this week is your last chance before next November to see your favorite holiday entertainment. Here are the shows, parades and spectaculars ending next week, but keep in mind that all performances are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.

Disneyland

  • A Christmas Fantasy Parade – final performance Wednesday, January 7 at 5:15 p.m.
  • “it’s a small world” Holiday lightning – final performance Wednesday, January 7 at 5:00 p.m.
  • Believe… in Holiday Magic fireworks spectacular – final performance Wednesday, January 7 at 9:30 p.m.
  • Wintertime Enchantment at Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle – final performance Wednesday, January 7 at 8:30 p.m.
  • Disney Holiday Dance Party – final performance Wednesday, January 7 from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m.

Disney California Adventure

  • Mickey’s Happy Holidays parade – final performance Wednesday, January 7 at 4:30 p.m.
  • Holiday Toy Drummers – final performance Wednesday, January 7 at 4:00 p.m.
  • Mirabel’s Gifts of the Season – final performance Wednesday, January 7 at 3:05 p.m.
  • The Story Time with Deadpool Holiday Special – final performance Wednesday, January 7 at 4:35 p.m.
  • A Musical Christmas with Mariachi Alegría de Disneyland & Miguel! – final performance Wednesday, January 7 at 8:40 p.m.

This is also the final week to get seconds of your favorite items from the Festival of Holidays food booths and take advantage of special character appearances and seasonal costumes only available at this time of year.

Finally, while you have a little more time to experience the big holiday overlays, like Haunted Mansion Holiday (closes January 12) and “it’s a small world” Holiday (closes January 26), the lesser-known overlays will begin to be removed next week.

  • Mater’s Jingle Jamboree
  • Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl
  • Storybookland Canal Boats

California Resident ticket offer begins Thursday

This Thursday brings the start of a new ticket offer exclusively for California residents. The California Resident Park Hopper ticket is $249, a savings of more than 50% when compared to the new price ($526) of a 3-day park hopper ticket. The ticket is valid for all ages 3 and older, for visits between January 1 through May 21, 2026. For a limited time, our travel partners at Get Away Today are offering the same ticket for only $204.

Theme park reservations are required to use this ticket, and we strongly recommend making them as soon as you purchase the ticket so you have the best selection of dates.

The best news is that there is no “fuse” on this ticket, and no blockout dates. You can space out your visits to catch the holiday decorations and entertainment at Disneyland before they end on January 7, return in February for the Lunar New Year celebration, and visit one more time to enjoy the Food & Wine Festival in March or April.

It is really important to note that everyone purchasing and/or using the ticket must be a resident of California. This means you can’t purchase them for out-of-state friends and family, and everyone over the age of 18 should be prepared to show government-issued photo ID at entry.

Disneyland files permit for new parking garage

A building permit filed last week by the Disneyland Resort indicates that Disney is ready to move forward with the construction of the new 6,000-space parking structure announced last June. The 8-story structure will be built to the east of the resort, on land currently used as a cast member parking lot. The 3,257,394 sq ft “parking structure core and shell” will include 302 charging spaces for electric vehicles.

As originally announced, the new arrivals complex will also include shuttle stops, a new security screening area, and connect to the Disneyland Resort via a new pedestrian bridge over Harbor Blvd. The new pedestrian bridge will certainly make use of the former Carousel Inn & Suites parcel on Harbor. Disney bought and subsequently closed the hotel in 2016, and the land is currently a parking lot. Disney says the new bridge will lead to an “all-new esplanade arrival experience.”

A new entrance is planned for the Disneyland Resort. Photo courtesy Disney.

When this was announced in June, we said that a new entry makes perfect sense, because the current esplanade was built in a time before technology made ticket booths obsolete. Disney no longer needs 8 ticket booths between the parks, and as of last month had closed all but one of them. That lone booth is now used for Disney’s Disability Access Service determinations; the guest relations window outside Disneyland handles all other in-person ticketing transactions. The company earlier this month received approval from the city of Anaheim to demolish two of the booths to make room for Porto’s Bakery, and we expect the rest will be leveled as part of this makeover.

The yellow line indicates one possible route for the pedestrian bridge over Harbor.

In June, Disney also provided updates on two other piece of the “Disneyland Forward” expansion project. There has not been much visible progress on these projects, but as I wrote at the time, the new parking structure and entry plaza is an important first step in the expansion dance, which I envision as a sort of slide puzzle.

After the Anaheim City Council approved the Disneyland Forward project in 2024, then-Disneyland Resort president Ken Potrock said that the previously-announced Avatar Experience was at the top of the list of projects coming to Anaheim. In June, Disney announced that the “Avatar destination” will be located in the current Hollywood Backlot area, and that Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! would close in early 2026 to make room.

Avatar Destination concept art courtesy Disney.

Disney has yet to announce a closing date for Monsters, Inc, which is currently on the operations calendar through early February (which is as far as the calendar is published). There also has been no update on the Avatar Destination, but again, this is a lot of moving pieces. If you look at the map below, Monsters, Inc. is flanked by Stage 17, the former Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? venue. Disney occasionally uses this for public-facing events, but it’s more often used as private event space. Stage 12 opened in 2001 as a food court, but is now used as a backstage kitchen. Both of these buildings are likely to be incorporated into whatever Avatar entails. However, they also all back onto the current loading area for busses coming from the Toy Story parking lot. All of this will likely be reworked as part of the new esplanade, and Monster’s, Inc. may remain open until demolition begins for that project.

The red pin shows the Monsters, Inc. ride building. To either side are Stages 17 and 12. The Hyperion Theater is in orange.

The other big project is the addition of an attraction based on the 2017 Disney Pixar film “Coco.” This is a boat ride, and the entrance is themed to a family museum.

Disney has said the ride will be built between Pixar Pier and Paradise Gardens, which is actually a very natural transition, especially as Paradise Gardens is home to the Viva Navidad and Plaza de la Familia installations during the holidays. Disney says the construction will be “in areas that are predominantly backstage today.” (Yellow area on the map). There’s not much room there, especially given the parade gate (red) leading to the backstage float barn (highlighted in green) is on the border between the two districts. I have previously speculated that Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta (in orange) may be on the chopping block to make way for the new ride, but Disney has not given any indication the location will close.

Disney has recently replaced a portion of the existing perimeter fence near the site with a new fence and gate. This is likely to provide worker access to the Coco construction site.

It’s difficult to see where Disney is going to wedge in a new ride behind Pixar Pier.

This and That

…We now have a reopening date for the Incredicoaster, which closes January 5 for refurbishment. The ride will be closed one month, and reopen on February 6, 2026.

…Last week we shared a scheduling irregularity for Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. The area did not appear on the official refurbishment calendar, but there were also no operating hours posted for the trail starting January 8, 2026. Disney has updated the calendar, and there is no closure currently scheduled.

…Tickets are available for just three of the Disneyland After Dark: Sweethearts’ Nite events in January and February. At press time, only the January 22, January 27 and February 10 events were still available. All other nights are sold out. This event sells out annually, and we honestly expected tickets would already have sold out.

…At press time, tickets for both Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites events in March were still available.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

Tickets, Discounts and Promotions

Disneyland prices as of October 8, 2025.

Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.

Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

2026 Military Hotel discounts

The new hotel discount is valid for all of 2026, January 1 through December 31, 2026, and must be booked by December 27, 2026.

As has been the case for the past several years Disney did not publish the actual discounted rates, and instead directed eligible U.S. military personnel to call (866) 309-9737 to check pricing, availability and to make reservations. If you’re making travel plans for 2026, it’s worth calling the number above to see if there are any special military offers available during your stay.

The offer is available to eligible service members, (active or retired members of the US military, including the National Guard, Reservists, the US Coast Guard, the US Space Force, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS) and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) ), and their spouses with proper military ID.

Those who qualify can book up to two rooms under this offer, and eligible service member or spouse must stay in the room on the reservation.

2025 Military Ticket discounts

Now through December 23, 2025, active and retired U.S. military personnel (including active and retired members of the United States Coast Guard, National Guard and Reservists) or their spouses can purchase:

  • 3-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket: $295 ($26 increase from the 2024 offer)
  • 3-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass: $391 ($32 increase)
  • 4-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket: $349 ($34 increase)
  • 4-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass: $477 ($42 increase)

Disneyland tickets may be used January 1 through December 27, 2025, which adds New Years Day and Christmas week to the offer. There are no other blockout dates this year, so the ticket is valid during spring break, summer, Halloween Time and beyond.

Active and retired U.S. military personnel can purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets for themselves and up to five additional family members or friends. No more than six Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased by any eligible member of the U.S. military (or spouse) pursuant to this offer. All tickets and options are non-transferable and must be used by December 27, 2025.

2025 Military Hotel discounts

Military discounts are valid for stays most nights from January 1 through December 27, 2025. You can book now through December 23, 2025, and travel must be completed by December 28, 2024.

Disney does not publish the actual discounted rates, and instead asks eligible U.S. military personnel to call (800) 453-4911 to check pricing, availability and to make reservations. In past years, the offer was generally 30% to 40% off, based on room category. Concierge rooms, Signature or Premium suites, or 2-or 3-Bedroom Villas are excluded from the offer, and this offer can not be combined with any other discount.

Unlike the Walt Disney World version, the Disneyland offer allows the eligible service member to book up to two rooms, and allows their spouse (with valid and proper ID) to qualify in the absence of the service member.
