Disneyland Resort Update for January 12, 2026

January 12, 2026 by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix

Magic Key sales resume this week

Disneyland resumes sales of “select” Magic Keys tomorrow, January 13, 2026. This includes the existing Imagine Key, which is exclusive to residents of Southern California, and a brand-new Explore Key, replacing the current Enchant Key.

Today is the final day for passholders who already have the Enchant Key to renew that pass, but it’s probably worth it to wait a day and instead upgrade to the new Explore Key.

The new Explore Key is priced at $999, a $25 increase from the Enchant Key. Disney says the key allows visitors to “explore the parks on select dates during each season, including summer!” Last week we shared the blockout calendar for this new pass, detailing how it differs from the Enchant Key.

Disneyland Railroad Guided Tour returns Thursday

Visitors take a look at the Disneyland Locomotive No. 2, the E.P. Ripley. MousePlanet file photo.

Reservations are now open for the return of the popular Disneyland Railroad Guided Tour, which resumes this Thursday, January 16 after nearly a year.

A highlight of the 90-minute tour is a visit with a train engineer, and a trip around Disneyland inside the train’s Presidential Car, the Lilly Belle. Participants learn about Walt Disney’s fascination with trains, and the history of the Disneyland Railroad.

The tour is $145 per person ages 3 and up, and participants under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Reservations are available up to 60 days in advance, and full payment is due at the time if booking. The Main Street train station and the Lilly Belle car are not wheelchair-accessible, and Disney notes that participants who use a wheelchair “must be able to transfer to a seat unassisted” in order to ride the Lilly Belle.

The Disneyland Railroad Guided Tour will return January 16, at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif. The Disneyland Railroad Guided Tour takes guests on a journey to learn about Walt Disney’s passion for trains and how it shaped the Disneyland Resort, plus guests will get to climb aboard the Disneyland Railroad’s special Presidential Car, the Lilly Belle. Anaheim Ducks Day details

On Feb. 22, 2026, guests may partake in the Anaheim Ducks Day event at Disney California Adventure park in Anaheim, Calif. This fan and park-goer favorite returns for one day, featuring appearances by select Anaheim Ducks players and Wild Wing, hockey-themed entertainment and activities, photo opportunities and more. (Richard Harbaugh/Disneyland Resort)

Anaheim Ducks Day returns to the Disneyland Resort on Sunday, February 22, marking the first time the fan festival has been held on a weekend.

The one-day event features more prominent park positioning, with a “Take Flight Fan Rally” in the World of Color viewing area around Paradise Bay replacing the player cavalcade from prior events. A press release says the rally “will culminate with Anaheim Ducks players taking the stage in a friendly competition,” and also notes that Disney characters will make appearances before and after the rally.

A dedicated “Fan Zone” will again be located in Hollywood Land, where fans “will have the opportunity to test their hockey skills, capture photos at Ducks-inspired backdrops, and party with Anaheim Ducks DJs and more.”

Ducks fans who arrive at park opening will have the opportunity to get a wristband to participate in the Ducks Day Fan Photo experience, where they can meet and take a photo with a Ducks player. These wristbands are extremely limited, and details are on the event website.

As with prior events, a selection of limited-availability Ducks Day merchandise and food specials will be available during the event. The park admission and park reservations are required to attend the event, which does fall within the eligibility dates of the California Resident Park Hopper ticket deal.

Disneyland After Dark sales update

Last week the Disneyland website showed tickets were sold out for both Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites events in March, but still had tickets available for three of the Sweethearts Nite events in February.

This week, the reverse seems to be true. All of the Sweethearts Nite events are now sold out, but registration is again open for both of the 70 Years of Favorites events. We don’t know if there had been an error on the website originally, or if Disney has added capacity to the after-hours parties.

The two Disneyland After Dark: 70 Years of Favorites events are March 3 and 5, 2026. At the time of publication, tickets are currently available on the event website.

Refurbishment season continues

The Haunted Mansion closes this week to remove the holiday overlay. MousePlanet file photo.

This week brings the second phase of the winter refurbishments, with two Disneyland attractions and two Disney California Adventure eateries closing:

  • Haunted Mansion – closed January 12-22, 2026 to remove the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay.
  • Mark Twain Riverboat – closed for refurbishment January 12-15, 2026.
  • Lamplight Lounge – closed for refurbishment January 12-15, 2026.
  • Lamplight Lounge – Boardwalk Dining – closed for refurbishment January 12-15, 2026.

There are two additions to the refurbishment schedule. Oga’s Cantina is scheduled to close on January 20 at the same time as the previously-announced refurbishment of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Reopening dates have not been announced for either. The Jungle Cruise is scheduled for a brief refurbishment February 17-21.

This and That

…A power outage on the Disneyland Monorail system left about 60 people stranded inside a pair of Monorail trains last Thursday, ABC7 reports. The Anaheim fire department dispatched two ladder trucks to the scene, and eventually evacuated most of the passengers via ladder before Disney was able to use the a tractor to tow one of the trains into a station. The Orange County Register reports one passenger climbed through an emergency hatch in the roof of the Monorail while awaiting rescue. No injuries were reported, and the Monorail has since returned to service.

@__aracelyyyy21 Pass unblocked but getting stuck on my first visit back for 3 hours was not on my plans😂 currently still on here btw 🫠 #disneyland #disneymonorail #magickeyholder ♬ Welp, Didn't Expect That – Yu-Peng Chen & HOYO-MiX

…If you’re planning a visit to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure on Sunday, February 1, note that both parks will have a delayed opening due to the Disneyland Half Marathon taking place that morning. Both parks open at 9:00 a.m.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

Tickets, Discounts and Promotions

Disneyland prices as of October 8, 2025.

Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.

Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

California Resident Park Hopper Ticket

The California Resident Park Hopper ticket is $249, a savings of more than 50% when compared to the new price ($526) of a 3-day park hopper ticket. The ticket is valid for all ages 3 and older, for visits between January 1 through May 21, 2026. Our travel partners at Get Away Today are offering the same ticket for only $204.

Theme park reservations are required to use this ticket, and we strongly recommend making them as soon as you purchase the ticket so you have the best selection of dates.

The best news is that there is no “fuse” on this ticket, and no blockout dates. You can space out your visits to catch the holiday decorations and entertainment at Disneyland before they end on January 7, return in February for the Lunar New Year celebration, and visit one more time to enjoy the Food & Wine Festival.

It is really important to note that everyone purchasing and/or using the ticket must be a resident of California. This means you can’t purchase them for out-of-state friends and family, and everyone over the age of 18 should be prepared to show government-issued photo ID at entry.

Find full details here.
