Disneyland Resort Update for November 25, 2024

November 25, 2024 by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix

Thanksgiving Week at Disneyland

It’s Thanksgiving Week at Disneyland, and yes it’s going to be busy. Based on the park reservations calendar, we’d expect Tuesday and Wednesday to be the busiest days of the week, but you should plan for crowds all week. Next week looks to be even busier, which is unusual – it’s normally my favorite week to visit before the holiday blockout dates begin for Magic Key Holders.

If you’ve waited this long to think about your Thanksgiving dinner plans, the bad news is that you have very, very few options. As of press time, Downtown Disney newcomers Centrico and Paseo had late evening reservations, as did Splitsville, but every other table-service restaurant in the resort was booked out. Magic Key holders can find some lunch availability at the Magic Key Terrace, or can splurge on the World of Color dining package at that location.

Disney California Adventure is hosting the Festival of Holidays, which means you can enjoy a progressive dinner as you sample dishes from the various Festival Marketplace locations around the park. This is not a bad way to spend a holiday in Anaheim, and there are definitely enough options to satisfy all of the picky eaters in your family.

The Turkey Galantine Croissant Muffin Slider from the Merry Mashups Marketplace makes a perfectly valid Thanksgiving sandwich. We also sampled the Al Pastor Pork & Pineapple Slider and the Jelly Donut Punch from Winter Sliderland. Photo by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix.

Of course, you can always take a page from model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen, who recently told Travel + Leisure that she plans to order 20 turkey legs from Disneyland to serve during her family’s Thanksgiving dinner this year. “Anyone that’s had those before knows that they taste like ham, they’re crazy to me. Turkey does not get better than that. We’ll just lean up against the dumpster and pick at turkey legs when we’re at Disneyland. That’s one of my favorite moments always, so, that’s my cheat for turkey this year.”

Celebrities… they’re just like us, right? However you celebrate, we wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Registration opens for Halloween Half Marathon Weekend

Club runDisney members can register for the 2025 Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon weekend starting Tuesday, November 26 at 7:00 AM PT | 10:00 AM ET. General registration for the events opens one week later, on Tuesday, December 3.

Registration opens this week for the 2025 Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon weekend

The second Halloween-themed event takes place September 4-7, 2025 and includes a variety of events for adults and children. The 2025 event is based on the Disney villains, with each race tied to a different character. Prices for all events are up $10 from the January races.

Disneyland Halloween 10KSeptember 6, 2025$185

Disneyland Halloween Half MarathonSeptember 7, 2025$270
Chills & Thrills ChallengeSeptember 6-7, 2025$450
runDisney Health and Fitness ExpoSeptember 4-6, 2025No Charge

To register, visit the runDisney website. As always, we recommend that you are fully prepared with all of your information before registration opens. Make sure you’re already logged into your Disney account, and have all of the details for each person you are trying to register, including legal name, home and email addresses, date of birth, pace time and shirt size. If you need to submit a proof of time for an event, you can do that after you register, so don’t take time to do it when you first register.

runDisney published a video last year which gives tips for how to register, but it doesn’t address concerns about how to ensure you get into all of your events if you’re trying to register for multiple races, or how best to register for multiple people (including minors).

Based on my own personal experience with this, it’s best to have every adult handle their own registrations, because entries are not confirmed until you finish and pay. It’s not uncommon to get to checkout and find one or more events have sold out while you were adding your spouse, friends and children.

More information on the event website.

Gingerbread Workshops return

We missed a memo on this somewhere, but the Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill and Patio is hosting their fantastic gingerbread workshops again this year. The bad news is that, as of press time, reservations were very limited and two of the three dates were already sold out.

The 2-hour workshops are $35 per person, and each group must purchase at least one gingerbread house kit per two people for $56 apiece. That $35 seat charge gets you an assorted dessert plate, unlimited house-made hot chocolate, and a digital photo with Santa.

Your gingerbread house kit comes with icing, an assortment of candy, a cake base for the house and a limited-edition Jazz Kitchen ornament. Pro tip: You can bring additional icing and decorations to make your gingerbread house truly your own.

This is a fantastic event, and I’m glad to see it return after the restaurant’s remodel. If there are any reservations left by the time you read this, you can book them at the event website.

This and That…

…Disneyland Magic Key holders can get a free Moana 2 print by stopping by one of three designated locations November 27 through December 6. Since most Magic Key tiers are blocked out during this period, one of the locations is located at the WonderGround Gallery in Downtown Disney, which Magic Key holders can visit without needing a theme park reservation.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

Tickets, Discounts and Promotions

Disneyland prices as of October 9, 2024.

Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.

Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.
