Disneyland hints at Wednesday price hike
We have been advising readers for weeks now to purchase their Disneyland tickets before the second week of October, which is when the resort has sprung its annual price increase for the past three years. A few days ago Disneyland made a change which makes us believe this next price increase will take effect this Wednesday, October 8.

Disneyland’s Lightning Lane Premier Pass is an add-on product which grants one-time access to each Lightning Lane attraction at both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure without having to schedule arrival times. Pricing varies by day, and this add-on is available to purchase only up to 7 days in advance. Last week we noticed that the price for Wednesday, October 8 was $449 per person, the highest it has been priced since Disney introduced the product last year.
The price drops back down to $399 the next day, and then bounces between $449 and $399 for the rest of the period for which pricing is visible. This isn’t exactly an official announcement, but it’s a pretty good indicator to us that Wednesday is the first day of a new pricing structure.

If you’re planning a visit anytime before the end of 2026, TODAY would probably be a good time to purchase your tickets at the current rates and get ahead of any future increase. Our partners at Get Away Today can help you plan your visit, and lock in the lower ticket prices now through their limited-time Adults at Kids Prices offer and layaway plan. Visit them online or call 1-855-GET-AWAY, and be sure to mention you saw them on MousePlanet.

Thanksgiving dinner reservations open Thursday
Last week we told you about Goofy’s Kitchen Thanksgiving offering, and now we have details of what Storytellers Cafe has planned for the holiday.
As previously noted, the new Daisy’s Holiday Pajama Party breakfast and brunch and Mickey’s Christmas Carol Feast dinner at Storytellers Cafe will not be offered on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Instead, Mickey and friends will be on hand during brunch and dinner for Storytellers Cafe Thanksgiving.

Storytellers Cafe Thanksgiving
“This Thanksgiving, November 27, 2025, join Mickey and his friends—decked out in their festive finest—for a delicious brunch or dinner feast featuring special holiday creations!”
Brunch (7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) price:
- $69 plus tax per adult (ages 10 and older)
- $39 plus tax per child (ages 3 to 9)
Dinner (1:30 – 9:00 p.m.) price:
- $89 plus tax per adult (ages 10 and older)
- $42 plus tax per child (ages 3 to 9)
Pricing is the same at both Storytellers Cafe and Goofy’s Kitchen, and based on recent meals at both locations I would highly recommend picking Storytellers for both the food and the ambiance. Reservations for both Thanksgiving meals open this Thursday, October 9. Based on how quickly reservations for Mickey’s Christmas Carol Feast filled up when they opened last week, I would be ready to make your reservations at 6:00 a.m. Pacific time Thursday morning for the best selection of times.

Goofy’s Kitchen Thanksgiving
“On November 27, 2025, enjoy specially prepared Thanksgiving-inspired dishes alongside your favorite brunch and dinner favorites. Goofy and his pals will be dressed to impress as you soak in the holiday cheer featuring enchanting décor and seasonal music. Exclusive Disney PhotoPass digital downloads will be available as well as a limited-edition holiday-themed button to take home as a keepsake.”

Disney Night on “Dancing with the Stars”
This week brings the popular Disney Night on “Dancing with the Stars,” and dancers from the ABC television series were spotted taping segments all around the resort this weekend in advance of Tuesday’s live broadcast. The show is commemorating Disneyland’s 70th anniversary, and will feature performances from the 11 finalist pairs. The opening number of “Be Our Guest” is choreographed by Mandy Moore (La La Land, The Eras Tour) and features a guest appearance by Danny Gardner as Lumiere.

The show airs Tuesday night (8:00-10:00 p.m. EDT/PDT, 7:00-9:00 p.m. CDT), simulcast live across both ABC and Disney+ in local time zones and next day on Hulu.

Countdown to the Holidays
The spooky season is definitely still upon us, but this week Disney gave us a look ahead at part of the holiday entertainment schedule.

The Holidays at Disneyland Resort officially begins Friday, November 14 with the return of classic favorites. At Disneyland there’s a slightly different schedule for A Christmas Fantasy parade this year, which now performs at 2:45 and 5:15 p.m. most days. The Believe… in Holiday Magic fireworks take place at 9:30 p.m. on most nights.
Also on the schedule is the nightly lighting moment at “it’s a small world” Holiday at 5:00 p.m., and the Wintertime Enchantment at Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle at 7:30 and 8:30 p.m.
The complete entertainment schedule has yet to be posted for Disney California Adventure, but Disney confirmed that World of Color – Season of Light will not return in 2025. Instead, Disney is showing World of Color Happiness, the show created for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary.
We’ll share additional entertainment details as they are released.
Disneyland casting new show

The Disneyland Resort is accepting applications for a new show, but there are very few clues about the nature of the production from the casting call. The audition notices seek improv actors, vocalists, movers, dancers and musicians, and list the following roles:
Female presenting roles:
ROLE 1- Director of operations, frazzled, bossy, a natural leader. Improv/Singer/Mover.
ROLE 2- Perfectionist, awkward, wants to prove herself, second in command. Improv/Singer/Mover.
ROLE 3- A little cranky, impatient, stubborn. Improv/Singer/Dancer/Animated.
ROLE 4- Sweet, always ready to play but makes up her own rules. Singer/Dancer/Animated.
Male presenting roles:
ROLE 1- Quirky, sarcastic, gets things done. Improv/Singer/Mover.
ROLE 2- Announcer type wants to be a newscaster, strong voice. Improv/Singer/Strong Mover/Animated.
ROLE 3- Always happy, ready for anything. Improv/Singer/Strong Mover/Animated.
Musicians (All are asked to have experience in jazz, rock, folk, pop, and musical theatre styles and ensemble work):
- Saxophone/Woodwinds + Flute
- Trombone + Piano
- Drums/Percussion
- Trumpet
- Acoustic Guitar + Vocals
Headshots and resume are due by October 17, with callbacks later in October. You can get more details on the Disney Auditions website, and join the speculation on social media as to what this new show could possibly be, and where Disney might house it.
Photo roundup
Justin Rodgers took a spin through Downtown Disney and Disneyland this week to check out construction progress. Here’s what he shares with us:
There doesn’t appear to be much happening at the construction site for the two new restaurants in Downtown Disney. A peek behind the colorful walls shows a big cement pad.

Salt and Straw has released their Halloween series, with five limited edition flavors available this month only.
- The Great Candycopia – a returning classic, filled with candy bits
- Jack o’Lantern Pumpkin Bread – exactly what it sounds like
- Double Bubble Toil and Trouble (v) – the vegan offering from this collection
- Creepy Crawly Critters – made with real, chocolate-covered crickets and mealworms
- Essence of Ghost – for fans of black licorice
Also available is their new Tacolate, created in partnership with Taco Bell.

Disneyland commemorates Dia de los Muertos
While the Plaza de la Familia at Disney California Adventure may be the bigger draw during Halloween Time, especially with the entertainment and activities centered around the Disney / Pixar film “Coco,” Disneyland also has a tribute to Dia de los Muertos in Frontierland. In fact, the Disneyland display predates the Disney California Adventure one, and adds a colorful touch to the park outside Rancho del Zocalo.

This and That…

…Mickey’s PhilharMagic is now closed for refurbishment through October 30.

…MousePlanet reader Karin sent in this photo of a new remote-control droid available at the Disneyland Resort. “R2-H15” is a much larger version of a toy released a decade ago, and comes complete with a jolly Santa hat and a “holiday personality chip.” The droid retails for $130.
…Over the last few years actor Josh Gad has been a Jungle Cruise skipper, a Disneyland Railroad conductor and a guide at Walt Disney World’s Kilamanjaro Safari. Earlier this year he got a chance to visit Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion, and the video is now available on YouTube.
…This week is the second of two brief closures for the Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes. The attraction is closed again this Monday – Friday, October 6–10.
…A one-day closure of King Arthur Carrousel has been added to the refurbishment schedule. The ride will be closed on October 7.
…At press time both the Enchant and the Inspire Magic Key were still available for new purchases through the Disneyland website.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.
Tickets, Discounts and Promotions
Disneyland prices as of October 9, 2024.
Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!
This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.
Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.
