Disneyland Resort Update for September 1, 2025

September 1, 2025 by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix

It’s Halloween Half Marathon Weekend

Athletes to your starting corrals! The events of the 2025 Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon weekend begin this Thursday, September 4 and continue through Sunday, September 7, 2025.

The events draw tens of thousands of runners, walkers, friends, and family to the Disneyland Resort, and include road closures and operational changes that could impact anyone visiting the Anaheim Resort area this weekend.

We’ve published a helpful guide to let runners, visitors, and spectators know what to expect as we head into this busy race weekend – check it out here on MousePlanet. Good luck to all of the rollers, walkers and runners participating this weekend!

Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit returns

Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit returned this weekend. This fun annual activity is a mini scavenger hunt that sends participants searching to find a series of 13 decorative pumpkins hidden in one of three areas of the Disneyland Resort – Disneyland, Disney California Adventure or the Downtown Disney District.

There is a different map for Disneyland, Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney. Photo by Justin Rodgers.

Pumpkin hunters first purchase a special game board and stickers to help locate the gourds, then place the stickers on the corresponding spots on the board to earn a keepsake. This year’s gift is a miniature beanbag toss game decorated with one of five Disney characters – Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto or Stitch.

The game boards are sold at a number of locations throughout the Resort, including at the gift shops of all three Disneyland Resort Hotels. You can view the complete list on the Disneyland website.

The pumpkins aren’t all easy to find, but the map will give you an idea of where to look. Photo by Justin Rodgers.

Each of the three locations has the same set of decorated pumpkins to find, and the prizes are the same regardless of where you play. Some people like to complete just one hunt, some complete one in all three areas, and some complete even more to get a full set of the prizes.

Once you have found all of the pumpkins on your map, return the completed board to one of the following locations to claim your prize:

  • Disney’s Pin Traders
  • World of Disney

If you just want the game, you can purchase and redeem your board at the same time at the four locations listed above. Maps are $11.99 plus tax, and Magic Key discounts apply. This year there is also a Limited Edition Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit pin available for $22.99.

The event runs through October 31, or while supplies last, but we always recommend completing this early in the season in case they run out.

D23 returns to Anaheim in 2026

During a presentation at the Destination D23 event in Orlando Saturday morning, Michael Vargo, head of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club announced the next D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event will be held in Anaheim, CA from August 14 through 16, 2026.

Vargo also confirmed that D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event will repeat the format introduced in 2024. Many of the typical “D23 Expo” activities will still take place at the Anaheim Convention Center, with exhibits from Disney brand partners; myriad shopping opportunities; plus the smaller panels and presentations. Each night, a marquee presentation will be held at the Honda Center. In 2024, these included the Disney Entertainment Showcase, the Disney Experiences Showcase, and the Disney Legends Award ceremony.

Attendees can also experience “extra magic” events the week prior to the August 14 start date, including the return of D23 Day at Disneyland. Tickets for the 2026 event will go on sale in spring 2026, and no pricing or package details were available at press time.

You can read more about the next event, and learn about the upcoming D23 event schedule, right here on MousePlanet.

Disney offers Napa Rose peek

Disney has shared very little information about the current renovation of Napa Rose restaurant at the Grand Californian Hotel, but this weekend did release a new image of the al fresco dining area. Disney says the patio is being, “thoughtfully enhanced to welcome more guests,” with two new fireplaces to elevate the outdoor dining options.

Disney did not provide any update as to when the restaurant, which has been closed since April 10, 2025, will reopen to the public.

Naples to host two holiday offerings

Naples Ristorante e Bar in Downtown Disney is accepting reservations for two holiday offerings this fall which are especially fun for families.

Pumpkins and Pancakes is a newer tradition, held on Sundays in October. The event includes a family-style brunch; pumpkin picking and decorating activity; a photo opportunity and treats to take home. Everyone can enjoy apple cider and hot cocoa, and there are bottomless mimosas for those 21 and older.

Tickets start at $75 per adult and $39 per child ages 3 to 10, depending on the date selected. Children 2 and under are free, but must be counted in the party size. Registration is now open—book online via the Patina Group website.

In November and December, you can enjoy Breakfast with Santa at Naples. The event includes family-style breakfast, live carolers, a photo opportunity with Santa Claus, and a personalized stocking and stuffed animal for each child 10 and under.

Brunch reservations are available between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 on select dates starting November 26. Tickets start at $100 per adult and $45 per child ages 3 to 10, depending on the date selected. Children 2 and under are free, but must be counted in the party size. Registration is now open—book online via the Patina Group website.

Pixar Putt extends run

Pixar Putt had a pop-up at the 2024 D23 The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, and is now running at the Pixar Place Hotel. MousePlanet file photo.

Pixar Putt is a themed 18-hole Mini Golf course which popped up in the ballroom of the Pixar Place Hotel back in February, after an earlier tour stop at the 2024 D23 The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim. We’ve learned that the activity has scored a second extention, and is now booking tee times from September 4, 2025 through January 4, 2026.

The course is designed for Pixar fans of all ages, with holes inspired by Inside Out 2, Toy Story, Cars, Monsters, Inc., Elemental, Soul, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, A Bug’s Life, Wall-E, Luca and Turning Red.

Pixar Putt is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., with tee times every 30 minutes. Prices start at $25 per person for Disneyland Resort Hotel guests and Magic Key holders; day guests are $28 -$33 per person depending on date selected. All tickets are subject to an additional $2 service fee.

Tee times can be booked on the Pixar Putt website.

This and That…

…Due to the Halloween Half Marathon this weekend, Early Entry is at Disneyland on Friday, and at Disney California Adventure on Saturday. This is the reverse of the usual pattern, so be sure to check your theme park reservations so you don’t miss out.

…At press time both the Enchant and the Inspire Magic Key were still available for new purchases through the Disneyland website.

…To commemorate the release of a new Fabled set for the Lorcana trading card game, Disney California Adventure was the site for The Disney Lorcana Quest this weekend. MousePlanet reader Steve W. shared the following from his visit this weekend.

The folks I talked to today about it said they started Friday and were going to be doing select days through September. The experience was a semi interactive talk about the game in the sorcery workshop library and then you’re given a booklet and a pack of the upcoming set. And needed to trade to get the cards your booklet had, turn in and get a Belle card and second booklet, to then build/trade another 4 cards for Beast.

  • D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event – Aug. 14-16, 2026. Tickets go on sale spring, 2026.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

Tickets, Discounts and Promotions

Disneyland prices as of October 9, 2024.

Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.

Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.
