Mr. Lincoln joins Walt Disney on Main Street

When “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” debuted at Disneyland’s Main Street Opera House last year, Disney said the new show would initially be the only one shown in the theater, but that “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” will reopen at an unknown time in the future and the two shows would play in rotation. Walt Disney Imagineering redesigned the stage inside the theater to accommodate a rotating turntable allowing both shows to be staged in the same theater.
Thus far Mr. Lincoln has only taken the stage when the new Walt Disney animatronic has been acting up, but the two shows are now officially sharing the theater. Cast members say the two shows will alternate throughout the day, so visitors can see one show and hop back into the lobby to catch the second show. The lobby exhibit has not changed, and features items on loan from The Walt Disney Family Museum.

Park Hopping rules to change

Disneyland is about to drop, or at least dramatically change, a policy that park visitors have complained about for years. At a press briefing last week, Disneyland Resort president Thomas Mazloum shared that all-day park hopping will return to the resort soon, as the parks drop the requirement that visitors with park hopper tickets wait until 11:00 a.m. to change parks.
No date was given for this change, and we do not know if visitors will need to make a park-specific reservation, or if they can just reserve the date(s) they want to visit.
Presently, all ticket holders – including Magic Key holders – must make a date- and park-specific reservation to enter a theme park. Those who have park hopper tickets can enter their reserved park as soon as opening, and must wait until 11:00 a.m. to change parks. That rule itself was revised in 2023; before that, guests had to wait until 1:00 p.m. before switching parks.

However, visitors with park hopper tickets who arrive after 11:00 a.m. can enter either park, regardless of which one they reserved as their “starting park.” We expect the new system will work the same, and that visitors won’t be required to check into their “starting park” before hopping. We hope Disney just completely eliminates the need to pick a starting park for everyone with park hopping privileges, though those with one-park-per-day tickets will still need to choose a park.
This change comes a month after Disneyland extended park reservation window from 180 days to 240 days in advance, making it easier for visitors to plan trips ahead of time.
Even though the Disneyland Resort is finally following Walt Disney World’s lead in restoring all-day park hopping, we don’t expect the California resort to go as far as eliminating park reservations altogether as Walt Disney World has for some ticket types. As annoying as they are, especially for those booking last-minute trips, theme park reservations help Disneyland managers better predict and staff for attendance levels. We’d love to see Disneyland designate low-traffic days as “Good to Go” days as does Walt Disney World, which would allow Magic Key holders to drop in without a park reservation. But we don’t think reservations will ever go away entirely.
Monsters, Inc. gets reprieve

Disney had previously announced that Monster’s Inc, Mike and Sulley to the Rescue would close in “early 2026” to make room for the new Avatar experience, but as the new year came and went, the company gave no additional hints as to when the attraction might close its oversized doors.
Now it seems the ride will remain running into 2027. At a press briefing last week, Disneyland Resort president Thomas Mazloum said the schedule change is simply due to a shift in the construction sequence for Avatar, and does not mean the new project has been scrapped.

Princesses return to Napa Rose

Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures is once again served in the Napa Rose restaurant at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, after having relocated to the hotel’s Trillium banquet room while the Napa Rose was closed for refurbishment. The character meal is served Thursday through Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., and is $145 per person ages 3 and older. The meal is almost completely booked for the next seven weeks, but availability opens up at towards the end of April.
Women Who Make the Magic
We mentioned last week that Disneyland had quietly posted a listing for a new guided tour titled “Women Who Make the Magic,” but had not yet shared details. The Disneyland website has since been updated with a brief description of the new tour, which will be offered starting in March as part of Women’s History Month.

Accompanied by the sound of beautiful music, travel through the living storybook of Disneyland Park and take in its realms of whimsy as you witness firsthand the accomplishments of legendary women—all leaders in their fields—who helped make this original Disney theme park a reality.
Explore the remarkable contributions of Harriet Burns, Alice Davis, Mary Blair, Ruth Shellhorn, Leota Toombs, Kim Irvine, Dorothea Redmond and more. Find out how they got their start at The Walt Disney Company, made names for themselves, and paved the way for future generations to succeed and continue the unparalleled legacy of Disney storytelling.
The new tour begins Friday, March 6 and reservations open February 25. The 90-minute tour is $110.
Egg-stravagnza returns

The fan-favorite Egg-stravaganza returns to the Disneyland Resort on March 3 and runs through April 6.
Originally introduced in 2013 as a Limited Time Magic promotion with hunts inside both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, the event expanded to Downtown Disney in 2016.
A dozen oversized eggs decorated with images of Disney characters will be placed around each of the three hunt locations. Egg hunters first purchase a special map and stickers to help locate these eggs, then place the stickers on the corresponding spots on the map.
The maps are $11.99 plus tax, and no discounts apply. There is a limit of six maps per person, with one prize per map. Maps are sold at select merchandise locations in the theme parks and Downtown Disney. You may also find them for sale in the gift shops at the three Disneyland Resort hotels.
Once complete, participants return the map to a redemption location to claim their prize, which this year appears to be a larger and more detailed version of the plastic eggs offered as prizes in the first years of the promotion.
If you’re only in it for the prizes you don’t need to complete the egg hunt to claim your reward—just buy your map at a redemption center and receive your treat.
Downtown Disney detours
The construction of a new Porto’s Bakery in Downtown Disney continues to create detours through the area, especially in the load and unload areas for the Mickey and Friends tram and around the World of Disney store. The current detour has pedestrians using the usual tram loading area on the south side of the tram drive to bypass the construction site, but this path can be narrow in parts. For some of the day, trams both load and unload on the north side of the tram drive, near the Monorail tracks.
At night, Disney has been using a backstage corridor behind Soarin’ Over California in Disney California Adventure to route visitors around the construction site. These photos are from our last visit, but construction walls move nightly.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.
Tickets, Discounts and Promotions
Disneyland prices as of October 8, 2025.
Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!
This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.
Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

California Resident Park Hopper Ticket
The California Resident Park Hopper ticket is $249, a savings of more than 50% when compared to the new price ($526) of a 3-day park hopper ticket. The ticket is valid for all ages 3 and older, for visits between January 1 through May 21, 2026.
Theme park reservations are required to use this ticket, and we strongly recommend making them as soon as you purchase the ticket so you have the best selection of dates.
The best news is that there is no “fuse” on this ticket, and no blockout dates. You can space out your visits to catch the holiday decorations and entertainment at Disneyland before they end on January 7, return in February for the Lunar New Year celebration, and visit one more time to enjoy the Food & Wine Festival.
It is really important to note that everyone purchasing and/or using the ticket must be a resident of California. This means you can’t purchase them for out-of-state friends and family, and everyone over the age of 18 should be prepared to show government-issued photo ID at entry.

Fortunately, Disneyland has just released their full 2026 Event and Festival calendar so you can be ready to make reservations for the events you want to attend.
You can change your dates later, but Disney will set aside only a limited number of reservations for this ticket type each day and so you may not be able to get the dates you want later. As with the prior offer, the terms state, “reservation availability for Kids’ Special Offer Ticket holders is not guaranteed for any date, and reservations may be difficult to get for any particular date, especially as the ticket expiration date approaches.”
