Disneyland Resort Update for January 27, 2026

January 27, 2026 by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix

The Year of the Horse(collar)

The Lunar New Year Celebration is underway at Disney California Adventure, and last week we spent the opening days enjoying the opportunity to meet Disney characters in their festive garb, watching the updated Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession, and sampling many of the treats available at the Lunar New Year Marketplaces.

Disney chose Horace Horsecollar to represent the Year of the Horse, a decision some readers found unusual. Fans also got to meet Mei in her red panda form, a first for Disney California Adventure.

Many of the Disney characters are dressed in festival attire – Mickey and Minnie in the Korean-inspired hanbok outfits they debuted last year. Goofy and Clarabelle in Vietnamese-inspired aó dài outfits, and Donald and Daisy in Chinese-inspired hanfu outfits. Even Chip and Dale join the party as lion dancers.

We noted last week that some of the best dishes of the celebration would probably be found outside of the six Festival Marketplace booths, and that was very much the case. Most of the booths featured returning favorites, with the freshest flavors found in unlikely places like Grizzly Peak and the Hollywood Backlot.

My biggest disappointment with the lineup for the Year of the Horse is that the whole fish platter, an unexpected favorite which has been on the menu since at least 2017, did not return this year. Sometimes steamed, sometimes fried, the presentation changed each year, and the dish was honestly one of my favorite items on any Disney menu. My appreciation for this dish was not just it’s flavor, but because of the sheer confidence the culinary team showed a decade ago in saying, “yeah, we’re going to serve a whole fish, we’re leaving the head and tail on, and people are going to love it.” I suspect the change is because this year the Paradise Garden Grill did not do a full menu reset for Lunar New Year, instead just adding a few festival items to their Mexican menu. Still, I miss the family-style meal, and hope it can return in another location next year.

Below are some of the hits of the festival and where to find them.

Kids’ Summer Ticket Offer now available

Children ages 3 to 9 visit can Disneyland and Disney California Adventure for as low as $50 per day between May 22 and September 7, 2026. Disney also has 2-day and 3-day version of this ticket, as well as the option to add Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Pricing is as follows:

  • 1-day Park Hopper ticket – $50
  • 1-day Park Hopper ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass – $84
  • 2-day Park Hopper ticket – $100
  • 2-day Park Hopper ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass – $168
  • 3-day Park Hopper ticket – $150
  • 3-day Park Hopper ticket with Lightning Lane Multi Pass – $252

Tickets are on sale now. You must make theme park reservation to use this ticket, and will be prompted to select your dates at the time of purchase. You can make reservations up to 240 days in advance. Fortunately, Disneyland has just released their full 2026 Event and Festival calendar so you can be ready to make reservations for the events you want to attend.

You can change your dates later, but Disney will set aside only a limited number of reservations for this ticket type each day and so you may not be able to get the dates you want later. As with the prior offer, the terms state, “reservation availability for Kids’ Special Offer Ticket holders is not guaranteed for any date, and reservations may be difficult to get for any particular date, especially as the ticket expiration date approaches.”

Full details available here.

Disneyland Resort extends theme park reservation window

With the launch of the new Kids’ Summer Ticket Offer, the Disneyland Resort has extended the ticket booking window from 180 days to 240 days, letting visitors make theme park reservations two months earlier than before. At press time, theme park reservations are available beyond the expiration date of the Kids’ Summer Ticket Offer, so customers looking to purchase that ticket now can book all three park reservations immediately.

Disney says, “This update reflects a commitment to enhancing the guest experience and making it easier for guests to plan and help secure their preferred dates ahead of time.”

This change also applies to Magic Key passes, though Disney did not increase the number of advance reservations a passholder can hold at any one time.

Run Last Time

RunDisney returns to Anaheim this week for a final race weekend before an indefinite, construction-related hiatus. The events of the 2026 Disneyland Half Marathon weekend begin this Thursday, January 29 and continue through Sunday, February 1.

The events draw tens of thousands of runners, walkers, friends, and family to the Disneyland Resort, and include road closures and operational changes that could impact anyone visiting the Anaheim Resort area this Thursday through Sunday. In this post on MousePlanet, we’ve provided all the details that runners, visitors, and spectators should know as we head into this busy weekend.

Napa Rose sets reopening date

Following a major renovation, Napa Rose restaurant at Disney’s Grand Californian Resort and Spa last week announced a February 6 reopening date. Limited reservations for the main dining room opened Tuesday morning.

Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif., will take its dining experience to the next level with an exquisite new look celebrating Craftsman design with an eye toward modern Californian luxury and approachability. Also, the restaurant, known for its refined California cuisine made with superb ingredients, will introduce a new menu. Napa Rose is slated to reopen Feb 6, 2026. (Artist Concept/Disneyland Resort)

For this opening, Napa Rose will offer a seasonal prix fixe menu starting at $188 per person, with an optional wine pairing additional, as well as a “curated kids’ menu” for younger visitors. When available, the prix fixe chef’s counter menu will start at $250, plus optional wine pairing. Disney provided a first look at some of the dishes on this new menu, including American wagyu N.Y. with a grape fennel mustardo, oak roasted forest mushrooms and a handmade sorpresine pasta served with Dungeness crab and Santa Barbara uni butter. The Smiling Tiger salad, a fan favorite from the restaurant’s 2001 opening, remains on the menu in a re-imagined form.

At this time, the restaurant does not appear to be accepting seating requests for the outdoor terrace or the Chef’s Counter, though an outgoing message on the restaurant’s telephone line states online reservations for the latter will open soon.

Reservations for the restaurant’s private dining room, or for any party of 9 or more people, must be made directly with the restaurant by calling (714) 300-7170.

The redesigned bar and lounge is open on a walk-up basis, subject to availability, and will serve an a la carte menu of small bites.

Gordon Ramsay visits Downtown Disney

Chef Gordon Ramsay poses with Mickey Mouse and Disneyland Resort President Thomas Mazloum during a visit to the Disneyland Resort on Jan. 23, 2026. While there, Chef Gordon Ramsey was able to view the construction underway for Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby, an all-new British restaurant concept from the creators of Earl of Sandwich coming to the Downtown Disney District in 2026. We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

Tickets, Discounts and Promotions

Disneyland prices as of October 8, 2025.

Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.

Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

Save even more when you purchase the California Resident Park Hopper ticket from MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

California Resident Park Hopper Ticket

The California Resident Park Hopper ticket is $249, a savings of more than 50% when compared to the new price ($526) of a 3-day park hopper ticket. The ticket is valid for all ages 3 and older, for visits between January 1 through May 21, 2026.

Theme park reservations are required to use this ticket, and we strongly recommend making them as soon as you purchase the ticket so you have the best selection of dates.

The best news is that there is no “fuse” on this ticket, and no blockout dates. You can space out your visits to catch the holiday decorations and entertainment at Disneyland before they end on January 7, return in February for the Lunar New Year celebration, and visit one more time to enjoy the Food & Wine Festival.

It is really important to note that everyone purchasing and/or using the ticket must be a resident of California. This means you can’t purchase them for out-of-state friends and family, and everyone over the age of 18 should be prepared to show government-issued photo ID at entry.
