Disneyland Celebrates 70

Disneyland started their anniversary party back in May, but the actual 70th anniversary comes this Thursday July 17. Anniversaries usually come with some sort of “moment” to commemorate the date, be in a replaying of Walt Disney’s opening day speech, or a small musical production. The Disneyland website lists no additional entertainment scheduled for Thursday, but there may be an announcement closer to the date.
However, all of the new entertainment which was introduced for the 70th is on the schedule, including the Paint the Night parade, Celebrate Happiness cavalcade, Pixar Pals Play Party, Tapestry of Happiness projections, Wondrous Journeys with Fireworks and World of Color – Celebrate! Even without a special “moment” there’s so much to do – but we’ll be in Town Square at Noon just in case.
The Final Verse to debut this week.
As we shared in February, a new verse will debut on “it’s a small world” this Thursday be updated with a third verse, Written by the late composer Richard Sherman in what is described as, “his final Disney contribution,” the final verse is as follows:
“Mother earth unites us in heart and mind
And the love we give makes us humankind
Through our vast wondrous land
When we stand hand in hand
It’s a small world after all.”
“Walt Disney – A Magical Life” to use Virtual Queue
The Main Street Opera House reopens to the public on July 17, 2025 with the new show “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” to commemorate Disneyland’s 70th anniversary. Disney announced last week the park will use a virtual queue to control access to the attraction.

What it is: A virtual queue acts like a mobile waitlist for certain popular attractions or experiences. You don’t physically stand in line, but instead use the Disneyland app to secure a “boarding group”. This helps prevent large lines in areas not built to handle them, like the busy entrance to Main Street, U.S.A.
How it works
- Distribution Times: You can attempt to join the virtual queue, typically 7:00 a.m. and Noon.
- Eligibility: To join the virtual queue at 7:00 a.m., you need a valid park reservation for Disneyland park. To join at 1:00 p.m., you must have already entered either Disneyland, or entered Disney California Adventure and have a park hopper ticket.
- Joining: You’ll use the Disneyland app to join the virtual queue. Link your entire party’s tickets in the app before attempting to join so that you can secure a spot for everyone at once.
- Notifications: Once you’ve joined, you’ll receive a notification via the app when your boarding group is called.
- Return Window: You usually have an hour to get to the entrance of the attraction after your group is called.
Key points and tips
- Stay Updated: Keep an eye on the Disneyland mobile app for any changes to virtual queue availability or distribution times.
- Speed is Key: Virtual queue spots fill up incredibly fast, sometimes within seconds. Be ready and quick at the exact distribution times.
- No Standby Queue: When a virtual queue is in use, there is usually no standby line for that attraction.
- Lightning Lane: Virtual queues are different from Disney’s Lightning Lane system. Lightning Lane passes can be purchased for quicker access to certain attractions, while virtual queues are free.
- Don’t Try to Join Simultaneously: Disney advises against having multiple people in your party try to join the virtual queue at the same time, as this can hinder your ability to get a boarding group.
We don’t know how long Disney will use the virtual queue for this attraction, but we don’t think it will last more than a week.
Early Entry Changes This Week

Disneyland has changed the early entry schedule for the 70th anniversary, which impacts hotel guests visiting this week. Early Entry for resort hotel guests is usually offered at Disneyland Park on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday each week, and at Disney California Adventure on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
This week, Disney is swapping parks on Wednesday and Thursday, with Early Entry offered at Disneyland on Wednesday, and at Disney California Adventure on Thursday. This means resort hotels guests who were hoping to get into Disneyland early on the anniversary date will want to rethink their plans.
Dates and Details for Halloween Dining
Disney has announced details for the 2025 Halloween dining offerings, including a brand-new character meal at Storytellers Cafe.

“Clarabelle’s Enchanted Halloween Dinner” at Storytellers Cafe begins Friday, August 22 and runs through Halloween. The character rotation includes Clarabelle, Goofy, Donald, Daisy and Pluto in their “Halloween attire.” Diners are encouraged to “dress up as your favorite forest friend.”
The meal is offered from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. each day, and costs $79 per adult (ages 10 and older) and $42 per child (ages 3 to 9). This offering replaces Donald’s Tales of Adventure Dinner Buffet.
Goofy’s Kitchen Halloween at the Disneyland Hotel and and Mickey’s Autumn Adventures Breakfast Buffet at Storytellers also return this year, starting August 22. Reservatrions for all three dining offerings open July 15.

High Key Club Opens

Guests staying in a club-level room at the Disneyland Hotel have a new benefit to enjoy. The new High Key Club concierge lounge opened last week in the Adventure Tower. The new lounge is more than twice the size of the former E-Ticket Club, and offers patrons amenities such as ” including breakfast, snacks and beverages throughout the day, a dedicated concierge, and bird’s-eye views of Disneyland Park fireworks on select evenings”
Oogie Boogie Tracking
It’s been a few years since Oogie Boogie Bash tickets lasted long enough to track them, but with Disney doubling the number of events in 2025 ticket sales are open much longer than in recent years. Three more dates have sold out since last week’s Update, and there are only three October dates still available.
Below is the current availability as of press time, with the most recent dates to sell out highlighted in black. Keep in mind this is subject to change at any time. We encourage readers to buy their tickets as soon as they can confirm their plans to ensure they don’t miss out.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.
Tickets, Discounts and Promotions
Disneyland prices as of October 9, 2024.
Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!
This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.
Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

Disneyland Anniversary Ticket
Fans can visit Disneyland up to four times during the 70th anniversary for as little as $100 per day with the Disneyland Anniversary Ticket.
The tickets are valid for visits during the first months of the 70th anniversary celebration, May 16 through August 14, 2025. You can purchase 3-day park tickets for $360 per person, or 4-day park tickets for $400. Pricing is the same for all ages 3 and older. As always, you can add on optional Park Hopper and/or Lightning Lane Multi Pass service upgrades for an extra charge.
Even better, there is no “fuse” on this ticket, which means you can use the first admission the day you buy it and wait until August to use the remaining admission days if you wish. However, you must make a theme park reservation for each day you wish to use this ticket, and Disney will set aside only a limited number of reservations for this ticket type each day.
As with the prior offer, the terms state, “Reservation availability for these offer tickets is not guaranteed for any date and reservations may be difficult to get for any particular date, especially as the ticket expiration date approaches. To ensure best availability, make reservations early.” From past experience, it will be difficult to get reservations the last weeks of this offer unless you plan well in advance.
Tickets available on the Disneyland website, or through MousePlanet’s travel partner Get Away Today. Book online at Get Away Today or call 1-855-GET-AWAY, and be sure to mention you saw them on MousePlanet.
