Disneyland Resort Update for April 27, 2026

April 27, 2026 by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix

Monorail and Roger Rabbit’s Cartoon Spin reopen this week

The Disneyland Monorail reopens this Friday, May 1. MousePlanet file photo.

The Disneyland Monorail has been closed for the entire month of April for refurbishment, but the Disneyland website now shows the attraction will reopen this Friday, May 1. Roger Rabbit’s Cartoon Spin, which has also been closed since March 30, will also reopen on Friday.

As we shared last week, the Jungle Cruise and Toy Story Midway Mania both reopened last Friday.

There is still no end date posted for the refurbishment of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, and Pirates of the Caribbean and the Blue Bayou Restaurant both close for refurbishment next Monday, May 4.

Silly Symphony Swings is closed at least through the end of May. MousePlanet file photo.

At Disney California Adventure, Silly Symphony Swings is now closed for refurbishment, joining Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. Disney has not shared reopening dates for either attraction.

Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nites begin this week

There are two Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nites events this week at Disneyland. MousePlanet file photo.

There are four Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite event in 2026, and the first two are this Tuesday and Thursday, April 28 and 30. The after-hours events feature unique entertainment, character appearances, merchandise releases and food offerings. Disneyland closes at 8:00 p.m. each night for the parties, and event guests can begin to enter the park as early as 6:00 p.m.

Disney California Adventure remains open until 9:00 p.m., and Downtown Disney is open until 10 p.m.

The last two events are next week, May 4, 6. All nights are sold out.

This week also brings a major change to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, as a timeline expansion brings new characters to Batuu starting Wednesday, April 29. Han Solo, Leia Organa and Darth Vader will all visit the Black Spire Outpost.

Along with new characters, new Star Wars novelties will be available at popcorn carts and snack stands starting April 28. These include the Salvaged Protocol Droid Bucket, Bantha Sipper and DJ R-3X Mug. The Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader Lightsaber Swizzle Sticks were released last year, and are making their return.

We recommend taking advantage of mobile order to avoid the lines for these popular items. All but the DJ R-3X mug will be available via mobile order from the Galactic Grill in Tomorrowland. Look for “Galactic Grill’s Seasonal Novelty Release” in the Disneyland mobile app. The DJ R-3X mug is only available from Oga’s Cantina, which no longer accepts reservations.

Kim Irvine, Leota Toombs honored with window on Main Street

Disneyland last week honored Disney Imagineer, Kim Irvine, and her mother, Disney Legend, Leota Toombs, with a window on Main Street, U.S.A. The new window, the first honoring a mother-daughter duo, is located above the Crystal Arts shop on the east side of the street, and reads:

Crystal Ball Glass Co.
Summoning the spirits of creativity…
On windows and doors…
And regions beyond!

Kim Irvine was a long-time art director with Walt Disney Imagineering, and was well known for her work on Sleeping Beauty Castle, the Disneyland Dream Suite, ‘it’s a small world” and more. She retired in 2025 after 50 years with Disney, and will be honored as a Disney Legend on August 16 at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

Irvine is the daughter of Leota Toombs, herself a Disney Legend. Toombs is perhaps best known to Disney fans as the face of Madame Leota at Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion, a role that Kim Irvine recreated for the Holiday version of the attraction.

When opening Disneyland in 1955, Walt Disney started a tradition of honoring people who helped create the park with a personalized window on Main Street, U.S.A. These windows functioned as screen credit of sorts, and provide a touch of whimsy for park visitors, and serve as history for those who understand their significance.

Mark Goldhaber wrote a three-part series about the tribute windows at Walt Disney World for MousePlanet, and explained,

There is a metaphor that compares the Magic Kingdom… to a movie. In this metaphor, the red walkways approaching the Magic Kingdom represent the red carpet to the entrance. The entry tunnels through the railroad station represent the theater lobby, which contains posters of coming attractions (literally).

Continuing the metaphor, the windows over the shops on Main Street, U.S.A., represent the opening credits as you walk into the park. In the same fashion, they serve as the closing credits before you walk out of the park, through the railroad station tunnel lobby, and back down the red carpet.

There are nearly 100 such windows at Disneyland. You can read Mark Goldhaber’s series on MousePlanet: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3.

These announcements may be more interesting to friends on the East coast, who are still anxiously awaiting the dates of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World. Disneyland announced the dates for Oogie Boogie Bash last year, and all we’re waiting for for are the on-sale dates and pricing. (If you missed the dates, they are August 18, 20, 23, 25, 27, 30; September 1, 3, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 27, 29; and October 1, 4, 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29, 31. )

This and That

…At press time, all four tiers of Magic Key passes are still available for purchase.

…At press time, tickets were still available for both Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite events taking place on June 16 and 18.

  • Gay Days [Unofficial event] – September 18-20, 2026. Details on the event website.
  • The Holidays at Disneyland – Begin November 18, 2026

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

Tickets, Discounts and Promotions

Disneyland prices as of October 8, 2025.

Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.

Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

California Resident Park Hopper Ticket [Offer sold out April2, 2026]

The California Resident Park Hopper ticket is $249, a savings of more than 50% when compared to the new price ($526) of a 3-day park hopper ticket. The ticket is valid for all ages 3 and older, for visits between January 1 through May 21, 2026.

Theme park reservations are required to use this ticket, and we strongly recommend making them as soon as you purchase the ticket so you have the best selection of dates.

The best news is that there is no “fuse” on this ticket, and no blockout dates. You can space out your visits to catch the holiday decorations and entertainment at Disneyland before they end on January 7, return in February for the Lunar New Year celebration, and visit one more time to enjoy the Food & Wine Festival.

It is really important to note that everyone purchasing and/or using the ticket must be a resident of California. This means you can’t purchase them for out-of-state friends and family, and everyone over the age of 18 should be prepared to show government-issued photo ID at entry.

NO longer available for purchase, though those who already bought the ticket can continue to make theme park reservations and use it.

MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today is offering the Kids’ Summer Ticket Offer at a discount.

Tickets are on sale now. You must make theme park reservation to use this ticket, and will be prompted to select your dates at the time of purchase. You can make reservations up to 240 days in advance. Fortunately, Disneyland has just released their full 2026 Event and Festival calendar so you can be ready to make reservations for the events you want to attend.

You can change your dates later, but Disney will set aside only a limited number of reservations for this ticket type each day and so you may not be able to get the dates you want later. As with the prior offer, the terms state, “reservation availability for Kids’ Special Offer Ticket holders is not guaranteed for any date, and reservations may be difficult to get for any particular date, especially as the ticket expiration date approaches.”

Full details available here.
