New Anaheim resident discount ticket offer
Anaheim residents can visit Disneyland during the final weeks of the “Celebrate Happy” promotion or the first weeks of Halloween Time for as little as $71 with an offer released in honor of Disneyland’s 71st anniversary.
The Anaheim Resident Ticket Offer goes on sale July 16, and is valid for visits from July 20 through October 8, 2026. The one-day, one-park ticket offers admission to either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure for just $71 per person, ages 3 and older. You can upgrade this ticket to a one-day park-hopper ticket for $33 more, and also add Lightning Lane Multi Pass for an additional fee.
The catch is that you need to be a resident of the city of Anaheim to take advantage of this offer. Tickets may be purchased online starting July 16. Your payment method must have an Anaheim address in zip codes 92801 through 92809, 92812, 92814 through 92817, 92825, 92850 and 92899.
We also want to note that the terms and conditions state, “Sales may be paused or terminated at any time.” In 2024, Disney ended sales of the Anaheim resident ticket two weeks prior to the official end of the promotion, so we recommend purchasing the tickets as early as you can to avoid disappointment.
Eligible residents can purchase up to eight (8) tickets per person, per day, but each person who uses a ticket must show proof of residency in an eligible zip code. An Anaheim resident is not permitted to purchase tickets on behalf of others who are not Anaheim residents. This means everyone in your party (18 and older) should come prepared to show proof of residency in the eligible ZIP codes to use this promotional offer.
It’s also important to note that theme park reservations are required to use these tickets – you can’t just buy them and walk right in without a reservation. Disney recommends checking the reservations availability calendar before you purchase the tickets, and make your reservations immediately to secure the dates you want.
$59 evening admission offer snapped up
Last week Disneyland announced a specially-priced evening ticket offer that was so popular it sold out in under a week.
The $59 evening ticket was valid for use at Disneyland or Disney California Adventure Sundays through Wednesdays from July 12 through August 5, 2026. For Disneyland, the ticket was valid from 7:00 p.m. to midnight; at Disney California Adventure the ticket granted admission from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Parking was not included and is currently $40 per car.
Though the terms and conditions stated “Sales may be paused from time to time or terminated at any time,” it was a surprise to many that the tickets were snapped up for all 16 available nights as quickly as they were. Disneyland officials say they are evaluating the opportunity to make more tickets available, and we will post updates as we have them.

One billion served
The Disneyland Resort reached a milestone last week, welcoming the honorary one billionth guest to the theme parks. 8-year-old Andres Robles and his parents were selected for the honor, and helped unveil a new population sign on the front of the Main Street train station. The milestone came two weeks before Disneyland’s 71st anniversary.
Yo Ho, oh no
After Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean attraction reopened last month with what Disney described as “new magic,” online reaction to the latest addition to the iconic grotto scene was swift and largely negative. We shared some of those reactions in last week’s Update, but I opted to reserve judgement until I saw the new figure in person, noting that figures with projected faces are notoriously difficult to photograph. I was hoping that Disney’s photos just didn’t do the figure justice.
Oh, it’s worse than I thought, but not only because of what the pirate looks like (which is not great, to be honest). The biggest issue I have with the new guy is that he talks. Rather, he grunts. He coos. He laughs. Whatever you want to call it, he makes noise, and it’s completely out of place for the scene.
As you can see in our video, as you enter the grotto you pass a series of silent skeletons. There’s the helmsman of the shipwreck, the duo playing chess, two more drinking at the bar. You hear wind and rain, see lightning as the thunder rumbles. As you near the captains quarters, you hear the harpsichord playing the familiar tune, as the phrase “Dead Men Tell No Tales” echoes all around you.
And then the spell is broken by… chuckling? It isn’t until the next scene that you see the source of the vocalizations, and it’s just so out of place. A figure who transitions from living to skeleton with a sound effect but no explanation. A comedic beat where it truly was not needed. I fully admit, I don’t get it, I don’t understand how it advances the narrative of the story, and I don’t know why the change was made.
If Disney really wanted to introduce this technology to the ride, perhaps Mayor Carlos would have been a better choice? Or the dirty-foot pirate? It just seems that there were other places and ways where this would have been less intrusive, and would have enhanced the attraction.
Website MouseInfo rode Pirates on July 4th, and found the figure was not moving or making noise, which led Peter Sciretta to ask, “So is this the only time when a Disney attraction has bmode and almost everyone thinks it looks better than amode?” (“B mode” is the term used for the alternate version when an effect isn’t working properly). Based on the responses, it seems quite a few people would prefer B mode as the only mode.

Soarin’ Across America lands at Disney California Adventure
Two months after it first debuted in Walt Disney World, Soarin’ Across America finally arrived in Disney California Adventure.
The updated attraction film harkens back to the Circle-Vision 360 attractions America the Beautiful, showcasing the scenery of the nation from east coast to west.
The ride begins by following an Artemis rocket launch from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. From there, the flight visits these locations:
- New York – Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor
- Maine – Portland Head Lighthouse
- Washington, D.C. – Washington Monument and the National Mall
- Louisiana – Bayou country
- Missouri – Branson Scenic Railway
- South Dakota – Mount Rushmore and the great plains
- Arizona – the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River
- Alaska – Denali National Park
- Hawaii – Diamond Head
- California – Los Angeles, the Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood sign
- Disneyland – Fireworks finale. (The version shown at Walt Disney World ends at Epcot)
Imagineers seem to have found ways to minimize the parallax distortion when creating this version of Soarin’. Unlike Soarin’ Around the World, where certain landmarks appeared extremely warped to riders seated on the edges of the attraction, this version was noticeable better. Even when viewed from the bottom row corner seat, icons like the Artemis rocket and the Statue of Liberty had only minor curvature.
This version of Soarin’ is definitely worth a visit, but the original Soarin’ Over California still has my heart as the best version of the attraction. I expect Disney will keep this new release in use for at least the entirety of America’s 250th anniversary, but hope to see the California version back in 2028.
Perhaps someday Disney will take advantage of having two Soarin’ screens, and run one version on each, letting the riders choose where they’d like to visit.
Changes in the Downtown Disney dining scene
As we shared last week, the new permanent Earl of Sandwich location is now open in Downtown Disney Anaheim, ahead of the official grand opening scheduled for July 15. We had an opportunity to visit the location during the test-and-adjust phase to check out the new eatery. The location offers the classic Earl of Sandwich menu for breakfast and lunch, with the addition of a new hot pastrami carving station and a small bar serving adult beverages, cocktails and frozen drinks.
We were there too early for The Carvery to open, so ordered from the classic menu. Hot and cold sandwiches are now $10.99, an increase of $1 to $1.50 from the former location. (Their website still has the old menu for comparison). New to this location are giant cookies, which are huge and priced around $6.
The location offers very limited inside seating, with additional shared patio seating available overlooking the Downtown Disney stage. We found it difficult to find room for our party of 6, but once the band took a break enough people left that we could get a spot. Even with the price hike, Earl of Sandwich is still sure to be popular with Disneyland visitors, and the new location makes it a quick grab-and-go option for visitors staying at the Disneyland and Pixar Place hotels.
Workers were unable to share when Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby, another new restaurant located above the Earl of Sandwich, will open. The building facade is complete, but we could see some work was still taking place inside.
Two new kioks have opened in Downtown Disney to feed the summer crowds. After previously operating from a food truck pop-up, Happy Ice now has a permanent location on the west side of Downtown Disney. Happy Ice is described as a “Los Angeles-born, Black-owned premium Philadelphia Italian ice brand known for its fruit-forward flavors and handcrafted frozen desserts.” That’s a mouthful, but the long lines attest to the popularity of the frozen treats. Happy Ice is currently open 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily.
Big Boi Lumpia is also open near the Downtown Disney Monorail station. Known for Filipino comfort food, Big Boi Lumpia offers a menu of both sweet and savory lumpia, including pork, chicken, Impossible, peach-mango, apple pie and Ube. The location is also open 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily.
Refurbishment notes
A few updates on the various refurbishments scheduled for Disneyland and Disney California Adventure over the next 6 weeks.
King Arthur Carrousel is now closed for refurbishment. The ride is scheduled to reopen by July 17, in time for Disneyland’s 71st anniversary. The Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition is also now closed for refurbishment, but the reopening date is not published.
Disneyland published that the Haunted Mansion will close on Saturday, August 8 for refurbishment and installation of the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay. The reopening date is not published, but we expect the ride will reopen no later than August 21 for the start of Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort.
The Main Street Cinema is scheduled to close for refurbishment starting August 10, one day after the end of Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary celebration. We expect this will include replacing “So Much That We Share,” the tribute to the Sherman brothers which has been playing since July, 2025. The reopening date not published.
Oogie Boogie tracking
At publication time, and after three weeks of public sales, the following Oogie Boogie Bash event nights have sold out:

- Saturday, October 31
All remaining event nights are still available. Tickets are also still available for the member-exclusive D23 Night at Oogie Boogie Bash on September 27.

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.
Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

2026 Costco Ticket
This new ticket is a fully-loaded two-day ticket, including Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Park Hopper, for is $389.99 for all ages.
The ticket is valid for admission January 8 through June 12, 2026. This ticket has a 13-day “fuse,” which means you must use the second admission date within 13 days of your first visit, (or on June 12, 2026, whichever occurs first). Theme park reservations are required for each admission.

2026 Military Hotel discounts
These multi-day Disneyland tickets may be used January 1 through December 31, 2026, with NO blockout dates for 2026.
Active and retired U.S. military personnel can purchase Disney Military Promotional Tickets for themselves and up to five additional family members or friends. No more than six Disney Military Promotional Tickets may be purchased by any eligible member of the U.S. military (or spouse) pursuant to this offer. All tickets and options are non-transferable and must be used by December 31, 2026.
This offer must be purchased at a participating US military base ticket office. Eligible US Military service members can also buy tickets via GOVX.com
The new hotel discount is valid for all of 2026, January 1 through December 31, 2026, and must be booked by December 27, 2026.
As has been the case for the past several years Disney did not publish the actual discounted rates, and instead directed eligible U.S. military personnel to call (866) 309-9737 to check pricing, availability and to make reservations. If you’re making travel plans for 2026, it’s worth calling the number above to see if there are any special military offers available during your stay.
The offer is available to eligible service members, (active or retired members of the US military, including the National Guard, Reservists, the US Coast Guard, the US Space Force, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS) and the Commissioned Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) ), and their spouses with proper military ID.
