Disneyland Resort Update for July 13, 2026

July 13, 2026 by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix

Disneyland at 71

Disneyland commemorates its 71st anniversary this Friday, July 17. While the Disneyland Resort is still in the midst of the 70th anniversary “Celebrate Happy” promotion, we don’t expect much to be added to the day. While nothing has been officially announced, it appears that there will be some sort of birthday cavalcade or procession on Friday, replacing the first performance of the Celebrate Happy Cavalcade. Based on prior years, expect the procession to include dancers, the Disneyland marching band, and a variety of Disney characters.

Disneyland commemorates its 71st anniversary on July 17. MousePlanet file photo.

Past birthday celebrations have also included a “moment” in front of the Main Street train station, where a recording of Walt Disney’s opening day speech is played. We’ll share any updates as we receive them, and also recommend that readers who are visiting this week keep an eye on the Disneyland entertainment calendar for additions.

Seriously, remain seated please

“Remain seated please”

You hear some variation of that phrase repeatedly during a Disneyland visit, from the moment you step onboard the parking lot tram to the final moments of your favorite roller coaster. For some of us, the Spanish translation, “permanecer sentados, por favor,” were the first words we learned in that language thanks to safety spiel for the Disneyland Matterhorn

And yet, for at least the second time in a month, someone reportedly ignored the signs, the safety videos, the cast member instructions and basic common sense, and climbed out of a log during their ride through Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland on July 4.

A sign in the queue for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland warns riders that there is a 50-foot drop. Photo by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix.

The first incident was shocking because the rider, a teenager who climbed out of the log at the top of the ride’s 50-foot drop and proceeded to slip all the way down, was not killed or even seriously injured in the fall. Following the June 21 event, the teenager was evaluated at a local hospital and released. The Los Angeles Times reports that state investigators found that there was no operational problem with the ride, which reopened the next day.

Given all of the publicity following the June 21 event, this latest incident is surprising because it happened at all. KTLA reports the July 4th event also involved a child, and that ride operators immediately stopped the attraction. No injuries were reported.

Signs placed along the ride flume remind visitors to stay seated, and spell out potential consequences. Photo by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix.

In an undated video posted to Instagram, user adventuresbyprince said he was stuck on the ride for over 30 minutes after passengers in the log in front of his climbed out at the bottom of the lift to the ride’s final drop. If that video was posted shortly after the incident happened, that’s three such events in a month.

This phenomenon isn’t limited to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, or even to Disneyland. Social media is full of “people behaving badly” stories from around the Disney universe, including a family who climbed out of “it’s a small world” at Disneyland; riders who evacuated themselves from the PeopleMover at the Magic Kingdom following a ride stop; a passenger jumping out of Living with the Land to retrieve a dropped cell phone; and a couple who climbed out of Disneyland’s Pirates of The Caribbean.

Concealed cameras help cast members monitor rider behavior during the ride. Photo by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix.

Some argue that Disneyland needs to add belts or restraints to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to prevent future incidents, but those devices did nothing to deter a man from leaving his log on Walt Disney World’s version of the ride, which does have lap restraints.

I don’t know what the solution is, but clearly signs, videos, safety spiels and ride restraints aren’t enough to deter unsupervised minors or careless adults. I’m not eager to see what the risk management experts think the next step should be.

Disney Vacation Club lounge closing for refurbishment

Disney Vacation Club members planning to visit Disneyland this month should know about a planned closure of the Star View Station, a lounge in Tomorrowland exclusively for DVC members and their guests.

The lounge opened in 2023, and offers seating, complimentary WiFi, charging stations and complimentary soft drinks and more to eligible Disney Vacation Club members. There will also be member services advisors on hand if the urge to add more points to your DVC portfolio should strike during your vacation. It is located on the second floor of the former Innoventions building in Tomorrowland, now signed as the Star Wars Launch Bay.

Last week Disney emailed members to inform them that the current lounge will close for refurbishment starting July 27. The company says this closure is “for routine maintenance work,” and that the lounge will reopen later this fall.

While the Sky View Station is closed, a temporary DVC lounge will be open in Tomorrowland, in the former Starcade near the exit of Space Mountain. The new location will be open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Reminder: Anaheim resident offer goes on sale this week

The Anaheim Resident Ticket Offer we shared last week goes on sale this Thursday, July 16. The one-day, one-park ticket offers admission to either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure for just $71 per person, ages 3 and older, for visits from July 20 through October 8, 2026. You can upgrade this ticket to a one-day park-hopper ticket for $33 more, and also add Lightning Lane Multi Pass for an additional fee.

The catch is that you need to be a resident of the city of Anaheim to take advantage of this offer. You can find all details, including residency requirements, at this link.

Earl of Sandwich prepares for a royal visit

Though the new Earl of Sandwich location in Downtown Disney has been open to the public for more than week during soft-opening previews, the official grand opening takes place this Wednesday, July 15.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will feature the Honorable Luke Montagu, the 12th Earl of Sandwich, along with Earl of Sandwich founder Robert Earl.

First look at The Carnaby

Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby, a British-themed restaurant, is coming to the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif. This all-new restaurant concept will bring the energy of swinging ‘60s inspired by the famous Carnaby Street in London combined with Chef Ramsay’s iconic British dishes. The venue features plush interiors and three distinct dining environments including a stylish outdoor terrace and a lively bar. (Christian Thompson/Disneyland Resort)

Last week Disneyland shared the first interior photos of Gordon Ramsay at The Carnaby a new restaurant soon to open in Downtown Disney. It appears that previews are underway at the location, as signs advising a “Private Event” were posted outside the restaurant last week.

While Disney has yet to confirm an opening date or complete menu, we do know about three items you’ll find at the location. Fans of the television competition show Hell’s Kitchen will no doubt be interested in trying Gordon Ramsay’s signature beef Wellington dish. You can also order classic fish and chips, and finish the meal with sticky toffee pudding.

  • Gay Days [Unofficial event] – September 18-20, 2026. Details on the event website.
  • The Holidays at Disneyland – Begin November 18, 2026

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

Tickets, Discounts and Promotions

Disneyland prices as of October 8, 2025.

Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.

Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

Fortunately, Disneyland has just released their full 2026 Event and Festival calendar so you can be ready to make reservations for the events you want to attend.

You can change your dates later, but Disney will set aside only a limited number of reservations for this ticket type each day and so you may not be able to get the dates you want later. Anaheim Resident Ticket Offer

Anaheim residents can visit Disneyland during the final weeks of the “Celebrate Happy” promotion or the first weeks of Halloween Time for as little as $71 with an offer released in honor of Disneyland’s 71st anniversary.

The Anaheim Resident Ticket Offer goes on sale July 16, and is valid for visits from July 20 through October 8, 2026. The one-day, one-park ticket offers admission to either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure for just $71 per person, ages 3 and older. You can upgrade this ticket to a one-day park-hopper ticket for $33 more, and also add Lightning Lane Multi Pass for an additional fee.

The catch is that you need to be a resident of the city of Anaheim to take advantage of this offer. Tickets may be purchased online starting July 16. Your payment method must have an Anaheim address in zip codes 92801 through 92809, 92812, 92814 through 92817, 92825, 92850 and 92899.

We also want to note that the terms and conditions state, “Sales may be paused or terminated at any time.” In 2024, Disney ended sales of the Anaheim resident ticket two weeks prior to the official end of the promotion, so we recommend purchasing the tickets as early as you can to avoid disappointment.

Eligible residents can purchase up to eight (8) tickets per person, per day, but each person who uses a ticket must show proof of residency in an eligible zip code. An Anaheim resident is not permitted to purchase tickets on behalf of others who are not Anaheim residents. This means everyone in your party (18 and older) should come prepared to show proof of residency in the eligible ZIP codes to use this promotional offer.
