Disneyland Resort Update for May 26, 2026

May 26, 2026 by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix

All-day park hopping returns June 9

As promised back in February by then-Disneyland Resort president Thomas Mazloum, Disneyland is about to drop a pandemic-era policy that has frustrated visitors since the parks reopened.

All-day park hopping returns effective June 9, meaning visitors with park hopper tickets or Magic Keys no longer have to wait until 11:00 a.m. to change parks, subject to park capacity limits.

All visitors must still make theme park reservations in advance of their visit, and must still choose a starting park for the day, though those with park hopper tickets or Magic Keys can enter either park when they arrive.

It is still possible for first-entry or park-hopping to be restricted at one park or the other based on capacity limits, but it’s been quite a while since we’ve seen those restrictions in place. For better or worse, that is one of the benefits of the much-maligned reservation system.

No Disneyland impact from Garden Grove hazmat incident

More than 50,000 Orange County residents spent this holiday weekend wondering if and when it would be safe to return to their homes, after an incident at an aerospace company in Garden Grove forced evacuations in 6 cities.

The incident also caused visitors heading to Disneyland and other Orange County attractions to rethink their plans for the weekend, in the event the situation in Garden Grove became more severe.

Though the evacuation zone was reduced by 65% Monday evening, thousands of homes and businesses remain under evacuation orders. No portion of Anaheim remains inside the new perimeter.

The crisis began Friday, when a chemical tank was discovered to be leaking. Officials ordered an evacuation of nearby homes and properties, only to lift the order hours later. Officials later reissued the evacuation order and extended the zone.

On Sunday Disneyland shared an operational update noting that the resort is five miles from the incident site, and outside of the evacuation zone. They stated that there was no direct impact on park operations, and referred visitors to the Orange County Fire Authority for updates. For their part, the OCFA said on Saturday, “Any areas outside of this zone are currently considered completely safe and day-to-day activities can continue as normal.”

Some Disneyland Magic Key holders who missed their theme park reservations on Friday and/or Saturday were notified that their no-show “strike” was removed after being reviewed by a cast member. We don’t know how Disney made the determination to remove those strikes, but it was a nice touch in a tense situation.

Guided tour lineup to change

You have just a few days left to take Disneyland’s fantastic new Women Who Make the Magic Guided Tour. The tour debuted in March, 2026 for Women’s History Month, and is scheduled to end on June 6.

A guide prepares to lead the Women Who Make the Magic Guided Tour at Disneyland. Photo by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix.

The 90-minute tour tells stories of the women who helped build Disneyland, starting with Walt Disney’s mother Flora. You’ll learn about Lillian Disney’s work at Ink and Paint before she married Walt, and her role in creating Mickey Mouse.

As the tour progresses, you’ll hear about Harriett Burns, Dorothea Redmond, Alice Davis, Leota Toombs and a dozen more. You’ll also hear from several women, with audio narration woven into the tour. Some of these names will be familiar, some may be completely new.

I am hopeful that the Women Who Make the Magic tour returns with even more stories in 2027, but if you can catch it this year I highly recommend it. Make reservations on the guided tour page.

In August, the popular Walk in Walt’s Footsteps Guided Tour will return.

This 2-hour guided tour visits both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, tracing Walt’s history from Los Angeles to Anaheim.

This tour also includes a stop in Walt Disney’s private apartment above Main Street, U.S.A., a space typically off-limits to the public.

The tour resumes August 14, with reservations to open this summer. The cost is $200 per person, ages 3 and older. Visit the tour page for booking details.

Fleet week and Memorial Day at Disneyland

Members of the United States Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard set sail aboard the Mark Twain Riverboat at Disneyland. Photo by Adrienne Vincent-Phoenix.

The Disneyland Resort played host to over 100 active duty members of the United States Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard last week during the annual Fleet Week visit.

During the visit, service members rode attractions like the Mark Twain Riverboat and the Jungle Cruise, and participated in the nightly flag retreat ceremony on Main Street, U.S.A.

Also appearing at the ceremony were members of the Navy Band Southwest, who joined the Disneyland Dapper Dans and the Disneyland Security Honor Guard. The flag retreat was capped off with an F-18 flyover.

We were fortunate to be present during the visit, and shared photos and video on our social media pages.

We also enjoyed seeing the patriotic decor return to Main Street, U.S.A. for the first time since the pandemic. Red, white and blue bunting is on flag poles as soon as you enter the park, and continues all the way down Main Street.

Free limited time experience lets kids build lightsaber at Disneyland

Kids – and kids at heart – can build a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop this summer at no cost, but they don’t get to take it home. MousePlanet file photo.

If you want to give your child the experience of building a custom lightsaber at Disneyland – without the $250 price tag – then Savi’s Workshop has a special opportunity for you this summer. We have all of the details of this complimentary offered here on MousePlanet.

Alien Pizza Planet returns to pre-pandemic operations

Another pandemic-era operational change ended last week when Alien Pizza Planet reverted to (nearly) its original operating model.

Customers can now enter the restaurant, grab a tray and head directly to one of three counters, offering salad, pasta or pizza.

From there, customers stand in line to pay before heading to the dining room. This is the way the Plaza Inn, Rancho del Zocalo and Boardwalk Pasta all operate, but for some reason Alien Pizza Planet was the last to return to its pre-pandemic roots.

A 2015 file photo shows a crowd at the restaurant now called Alien Pizza Planet. MousePlanet file photo.

As before, and as at the other restaurants mentioned, there are challenges with this “buffeteria” style of service. If your party wants dishes from multiple stations, you’ll need to either split up or wait in multiple lines.

To help ease crowding inside the serving area, Disney years ago relocated the beverage station to the dining room. Diners purchase a cup at the cashier, and fill it after they pay.

With this change, the location no longer offers mobile order for the majority of the menu. The only items still available via mobile order are the Magic Key holder-exclusive Artisanal Style Pizza combo, or the whole pizza combos. Look for these offerings under “Alien Pizza Planet Express” in the Disney mobile app.

Cast members said the return to traditional service is a “test,” but seems to be going well. We definitely think it’s an improvement, and the wait to pick up fresh food from the counter was much shorter than our wait to collect our food during our last two mobile order experiences.

Bubbles experience to return to Downtown Disney

Disney Junior is bringing The Bubbles Experience back to Downtown Disney this July 10 through August 16, 2206. The experience features dancing with a live DJ, a themed photo backdrop and scheduled “bubble times” daily. The event takes place at the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage and Lawn on the west side of the shopping district.

Bubble Times: 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6:30pm, 7:30pm, 8:30pm, 9:30pm, 10:20pm; check the daily calendar for any changes.

New Disney Friends Dance Party

Another new offering in this kids-centric summer at the Disneyland Resort reminds me of a show from way back in 2012.

The new Disney Friends Dance Party takes place in the Disney Theater after performances of Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! are done for the day.

The characters dance and entertain through the crowd, stopping to engage with a young fan or lead a conga line. This is not a meet-and-greet, so leave the autograph pens behind.

An energetic host invites kids of all ages to join Disney characters for a dance party, and introduces each performer as they arrive. During a media preview last week, the character rotation began with Chip and Dale, adding Clarice, Horace Horsecollar and Max at intervals as the earlier characters left.

I love any opportunity that kids have to interact with the characters outside of the typical “line up and smile” environment of a meet-and-greet, or the chaos of a character meal. We saw some truly special moments between the characters and their adoring fans last week, and these are sure to be some special memories.

Disney Friends Dance Party is at Disney California Adventure in the Disney Theater on Buena Vista Street. Check the Disneyland mobile app for daily showtimes, as they’ve already been adjusted from opening day. And if this is the type of entertainment you’d like to see more of, be sure to let Disney know. We certainly have.

Pixar Short Film Spotlight returns

Disneyland is using the Tomorrowland Theater to host the Pixar Short Film Spotlight, an 18-minute presentation of three Pixar animated shorts, including “Luxo Jr.,” “Lou,” and “Smash and Grab.”

None of these are new, with the most recent release being “Smash and Grab” in 2019, but this is a nice way to spend 20 minute sitting in an air-conditioned building while you’re waiting for your next Lightning Lane return time. This is likely a summer-only offering, but it’s good to see the Tomorrowland Theater in use again.

For a limited time our travel partners at Get Away Today are offering this ticket at $48 per day.

Grad Nites continue this week

There are three Grad Nite events scheduled this week, on May 28, 29 and 31.

If you happen to visit on a Grad Nite, keep in mind that Disney California Adventure will close to the public at 9:00 p.m., and you’ll only have one chance to catch World of Color Happiness! on event nights. We recommend starting your day in Disney California Adventure, and then hopping over to Disneyland by mid-afternoon as the grads arrive. Disneyland closes at midnight on Grad Nites this week, so you’ll have a couple of grad-free hours in that park after the party begins in DCA.

If you or your grad happen to be going to Grad Nite, be sure to download the Disneyland app, which contains the digital guide to the after-hours party. You can find special entertainment, character greetings and food offerings on the app.

  • Gay Days [Unofficial event] – September 18-20, 2026. Details on the event website.
  • The Holidays at Disneyland – Begin November 18, 2026

We also recommend checking the convention calendar at the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau website. When looking at that site, remember to note both the number of people and the number of rooms resulting from each convention. A gathering of 25,000 people booking few room nights (indicating most will be driving in to the area for their meeting) can impact traffic around the resort much more than a crowd of 25,000 staying in area hotels. Of course, that second group is going to make finding a hotel room more difficult (and possibly more expensive), so it’s best to book your own room as early as possible if you see that a big convention is in town during your trip.

Tickets, Discounts and Promotions

Disneyland prices as of October 8, 2025.

Note: MousePlanet does not edit past Updates to reflect price increases; for up-to-date prices, check the most recent Disneyland Resort Update. Several current promotions offer discounted admission to the Disneyland Resort. For your convenience, we have grouped the discount offers based on the number of days the tickets are valid. Check out the category that best matches the amount of time you plan to spend at the resort, and pick the offer that works best for you. And keep those tips coming—let us know if you find a better or different offer, so we can share it with other readers!

This first section is a list of discounts on ticket-only purchases. Though it has become more common in recent years, Disneyland tickets are rarely offered at deep discounts unless you are a resident of Southern California or Northern Mexico. For residents outside that area, the best discounts available tend to be simple advance purchase discounts. If you know of any additional discounts, offers, promotions, or contests that should be listed in this section, drop us a line. Note, we are no longer listing offers from the Anaheim-Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau, as their convenience fee negates any savings.

Don’t get scammed! Never buy tickets from an unofficial or secondary outlet, such as through eBay or Craigslist. Never rent or purchase tickets from people approaching you outside the gates stating they have remaining days or leftover tickets. This practice is against the terms of use for Disneyland admission, and may result in denial of entry. It is also common for criminals to shoplift inactivated Disney theme park tickets from supermarkets to resell them. There is no way to determine if these tickets are valid until you try to use them to enter the parks. Only purchase Disney theme park tickets directly from Disney, an authorized seller, or travel agency like MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today.

California Resident Park Hopper Ticket [Offer sold out April 2, 2026]

The California Resident Park Hopper ticket is $249, a savings of more than 50% when compared to the new price ($526) of a 3-day park hopper ticket. The ticket is valid for all ages 3 and older, for visits between January 1 through May 21, 2026.

Theme park reservations are required to use this ticket, and we strongly recommend making them as soon as you purchase the ticket so you have the best selection of dates.

The best news is that there is no “fuse” on this ticket, and no blockout dates. You can space out your visits to catch the holiday decorations and entertainment at Disneyland before they end on January 7, return in February for the Lunar New Year celebration, and visit one more time to enjoy the Food & Wine Festival.

It is really important to note that everyone purchasing and/or using the ticket must be a resident of California. This means you can’t purchase them for out-of-state friends and family, and everyone over the age of 18 should be prepared to show government-issued photo ID at entry.

NO longer available for purchase, though those who already bought the ticket can continue to make theme park reservations and use it.

MousePlanet travel partner Get Away Today is offering the Kids’ Summer Ticket Offer at a discount.

You can make reservations up to 240 days in advance. Fortunately, Disneyland has just released their full 2026 Event and Festival calendar so you can be ready to make reservations for the events you want to attend.

You can change your dates later, but Disney will set aside only a limited number of reservations for this ticket type each day and so you may not be able to get the dates you want later. As with the prior offer, the terms state, “reservation availability for Kids’ Special Offer Ticket holders is not guaranteed for any date, and reservations may be difficult to get for any particular date, especially as the ticket expiration date approaches.”
